2018 will mark the 70th Anniversary of the arrival of the Empire Windrush, one of the ships to bring about 500 migrants from West Indies to the U.K. In 2017-2018, V Jay Theatre Productions will present special Windrush celebrations across the U.K. This event is a tribute to all those pioneers who left their homelands to come to Great Britain in search of a better life for the families they left behind after the Second World War. We want to make sure that their journey, struggle and triumph will never be forgotten for generations to come.

been touring since 1996. The play has been
contributing to a significant part of British Black
History to be told and passed on to younger
generations. Each year Windrush generations
are passing on and now their stories are more
important than ever to be told.

THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE PART …
The programme of the event will be around the theme of Windrush and in a variety of formats e.g. drama/poetry/discussion/workshop/guest speakers …
It will be combination of education and entertainment. Young and old will share and enjoy the time together.
We are pleased to announce that this is a fantastic opportunity for your organisation to take part in as a host for your community! Also this is your good fundraising opportunity too!
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BEING A HOST …?
Your conditions for taking part as a host are below.
1. To agree to host the event at your centre / space available that is suitable to accommodate the event and hold 50-100 people or more.
2. To agree to promote the event and sell tickets in advance to reach the target of £500 for the artist Victor Richards to cover his performance fee, travel expenses and hotel. example: £10 tickets x 50 people =£500 or £5 tickets x 100 people =£500 This cost is a standard charge, it is negotiable depending on your circumstances.
3. To agree to cover the shortfall of the cost for the artist if you couldn’t reach the target of £500 (or agreed cost)
4. To agree to work together with Victor Richards to set date, time and programme and discuss all the details on the phone, email and in a meeting to organise a successful event.
GREAT BENEFIT FOR YOUR COMMUNITY …
➢ This event will be a good fundraising opportunity. If you make any profit above £500 (agreed cost) from tickets sales, food and drink sales and raffle etc. will be funds for your organisation.
➢People in your community will have a great benefit to enjoy, learn, share and gain a positive outcome from the event for years to come.
