Principal’s Message
Dear Victoria families,
Welcome back to school! Thank you to all Victoria staff who have been working hard over the summer and especially during the last two weeks to create an inviting and safe space for learning. Although we will have some new routines and expecta-tions, we are so looking forward to seeing the smiling faces of our students. We missed you!
Mr. Caicco and Ms. Robinson will be teaching in the remote learning programs this year. We wish them well and welcome Eleni Partalas who will be teaching French, Physical Education and Arts subjects.
I will be also be supporting our Full Remote Learning Programs as an administrator and would like to welcome Jenny Schreff who will be serving as Principal for Victo-ria. It has been a privilege to serve this community and I will always be a proud Viking!
We would like to share some of the new practices that will help keep us safe.
Students will spend most of the day with their own class. Recess times are now staggered, with 2 or 3 classes on each yard at a time to
allow for maximum social distancing. Our main entry door has changed. We will now use the double doors at the
back of the school at the music room entrance. All school doors will be locked during the instructional day. Parents may only enter the school by appointment.
If a student is late for school, please ring the bell at the main entry door and wait for a staff member to meet you at the door. You may also call the school office number that is posted at the door.
Masks must be worn at all times when indoors. Students in grades 4-8 may be sent home if they do not comply with this rule.
Students may take their masks off when outside but will need to put the masks on before re-entering the school. Please review with your child where they will put their mask during outside time (pocket, fanny pack, clipped to clothing). If possible, please label masks.
Please provide a refillable and labelled water bottle. Water stations are availa-ble to refill bottles, water fountains with drinking spouts are not.
If your child rides the bus, please review safety rules. Siblings will share seats when possible. Students will wear masks and must remain seated at all times.
Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or considerations.
Yours sincerely,
Julia Bujouves

ANONYMOUS REPORTING Victoria Public School is committed to providing a safe school environment for all members of our school commu-nity. As part of our Safe Schools strategy we have established an online reporting mechanism that allows stu-dents or parents to report concerns regarding a child, friend, classmate or student. These concerns may be re-garding bullying, health issues, guid-ance or other concerns. Reports and concerns will be reviewed regularly by the administration and are received anonymously unless the reporter re-quests a reply. Reports can be through our website or https://forms.tvdsb.ca/Anonymous-Reporting
SAFE ARRIVALS
Parents are asked to call SchoolMes-senger for all student absences or late arrivals by phone, using the SchoolMessenger App or through the internet.

Web www.tvdsb.ca/schoolmessenger
This line is available 24 hours a day.
As part of the Thames Valley District School Board’s “Safe Arrivals” proce-dure, contact must be made for all absences. It is imperative that the phone numbers on file for each stu-dent are up-to-date. If no message is received by the school by 9:00 a.m., phone calls will be made to your home/mobile or to your emergency numbers to verify a student’s absence
*** Please note that students who wish to go home for lunch will have one opportunity and this will be from 1:00—1:50. Please provide a snack for
the morning break. Students will need permission by a parent to leave the school during this time. ***
Preparing for School
Getting into routines
The routines your child may have developed since schools closed in March and then over summer vacation may be different from what will be needed for the return to school. Help get them ready for school by talking about what their new routines will look like and practice them before school begins.
Changes to their routine may include:
• a different bedtime and time to wake up
• packing a lunch and reusable water bottle
• packing their mask/face covering
• doing the screening process before going to school
• putting their reusable mask or face covering in the laundry as soon as they get home
• logging into their computer at a certain time to participate in online learning or set-ting aside designated time to do independent school work during the day (if learning remotely)
Please note that Victoria Public School is Nut Safe. Please do not send peanut butter or peanut
products to school in your child’s snack or lunch. We appreciate
your cooperation and support.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Protocol
Staff and students may bring their own computing devices to schools to limit the use of shared devices at the schools and
school related events. Students and staff should not share their personal devices with others. Mobile technology devices in-
clude, but are not limited to, laptops, netbooks, Chromebooks, tablets, iPads, and smartphones.
1. Before bringing a personally owned mobile technology device to school, students and staff should record its make, model,
and serial number. This information should be maintained by the family at home. Students and staff should clearly label the
device and its peripherals, such as cables or headphones, with the first and last name.
2. TVDSB will not be responsible for lost, damaged, stolen items or incidents of cyber security breaches.
3. Students are responsible at all times for complying with their school’s “Code of Conduct”, “Computer Safe & Acceptable
Use Code of Conduct”, copyright legislation and the conditions outlined in this document. It is the expectation that personal
owned mobile devices will be only used for educational purposes.
4. Any mobile technology device that is brought to school should have a fully charged battery at the beginning of the day.
TVDSB schools do not have sufficient charging points for all students and staff.
5. Students and staff will use TVDSB’s wireless network connection when at school. Please refer to Appendix A – Connecting
to TVDSB’s Wireless Network. TVDSB is not responsible for charges that may occur from accessing other connections.
6. Privacy and safety are paramount for students and staff. Students must obtain permission from a teacher or administrator
before recording, taking pictures, or publishing images, information, or works of individuals or groups (school code of con-
duct). Recordings and pictures may be taken for teacher-approved projects only, and permission must be obtained.
7. It is not the responsibility of TVDSB to troubleshoot individual personal, non-board devices.

Inclement Weather & Bussing Parents/guardians are advised to listen to the radio station for announcements regarding school closures and bus cancellations/delays for all public schools within TVDSB. If busses are cancelled, the school will remain open. Due to the new policy of keep-ing schools open, we still require a phone call to report an absence even if your child is absent due to bussing cancellation. If your child is assigned bussing but will not be riding the bus, please contact My Big Yellow Bus to have them removed from the roster
.Signing In-Out—Students leaving for Lunch Due to COVID—19, we ask that your children arrive to school on time as doors will be locked at 9:00 a.m. If you arrive late, you must ring the door bell and wait for a staff member to come to the door. There are no parents allowed in the building without an appointment. If your child will be going home on a regular basis (1:00—1:50 break), please send a written note to the office giving them permis-sion to do so. Students are not allowed to leave school property without this. IF you are picking up your child, please ring the bell and a staff member will answer and retrieve your child and send them outside to meet you.
