Letter from the Secretary General: Sam Goldman

Welcome to the 2014-2015 MUN Banquet! Tonight is a special night because we are saying goodbye to our seniors and welcoming our new secretariat members. Our program would not be possible without all of the hard work and dedication that goes into it, so I would like to take the time to thank all of those who have contributed to our success:

To the parents: We probably don’t thank you enough. Without all of your support, donations, and time, none of what we do would be possible. I would especially like to thank those of you who volunteered throughout the year, whether it be at the monthly parent meetings, the conference, or both. A lot of the work you do is behind the scenes but please do not forget that it is recognized and appreciated.

To the advisors: We definitely don’t thank you enough. Mrs. Geiger, Mr. Weinberger, and Mr. Brown, you have all helped us grow in ways that will help us far beyond the realms of MUN. You have taken students and transformed us into passionate speakers, skilled debaters, thorough researchers, and adaptable individuals who know how to take a stand for what we believe in. Not only is the success of the program owed to you, but also the success of our achievements throughout these past four years. I would also like to individually thank Mrs. Geiger who always goes above and beyond her call of duty as a teacher. The three of you have impacted us exponentially and we are very thankful.

To the Secretariat: It has been such a pleasure working with many of you this year. I was so proud of our conference and I know how much effort we all put in to pull it off as a success! I want to specifically thank the DMT’s, Calista and Vivian, who not only helped with all of the preparation and training for the conference, but who dealt with me and all of my craziness throughout the year. I would also like to give a shout out to Kelsey and Eileen, who both did exceptional jobs with making information accessible and helping everyone in the program stay coordinated.

To the Seniors: We’ve been through a lot together these past four years. Through all of the debates, conferences, and collaborations, I have come to know many of you extremely well. Though we may not always see eye to eye, I have learned a great deal from each and every one of you, and for that, I thank you. Some of us have grown very close throughout high school and I attribute a lot of that to MUN. Weekends spent at conferences were not only made bearable, but enjoyable because of you guys. As we move on to the next chapter of our lives, I’ll remember all of the good times we’ve had together, and I will always look back at MUN with fondness. Thank you seniors, and good luck. You all have so much potential and I know you are going to do great things in your future.

Thank you everyone for your involvement in the MUN program. It has been wonderful working with all of you. Good luck to the new secretariat, you guys are going to rock it next year! Thank you to everyone for all you have done!
