PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGESince its establishment in 1973, the college has contributed a lot in the social and intellectual uplift of the area. As ups and downs are natural in the

histories of nations, countries, organizations, institutions etc. so this institution has also seen ups and downs on account of some unfavourable external circumstances and security risk. To take an institution to the heights is not only the responsibility of the college administration but also of the public representatives, teachers, parents and students. Community plays a vital role in this regard.

Let’s pledge together that from today we will leave no stone unturned in making this institution one of the best in the province and will work together to achieve the best.

Principal Prof. Roshmali Khan

INTRODUCTIONThe today’s Government Degree College was established as inter college in the student hostel of the then Govt High School Hangu now

Government High School no. 1 Hangu deprived of all sorts of facilities in 1973. The principal and the faculty tried their level best to impart quality education and inculcated the spirit of patriotism with particular emphasis on education and character building. Consequently, people of the area were attracted to quench their thirst for knowledge and the present building could not accommodate the students. So a building of its own became a dire need of the institution which was constructed by the then Government of NWFP, some two kilometres away from the main bazar Hangu on Thall road in attractive and picturesque natural surroundings. The majestic and magnificent hills of the area visible from the college in various directions add elegance and grace to the college environment. The surroundings of the college are almost free from noise and all kinds of pollution, thus offering clean, natural, healthy and health giving environment to the students, the most favourable and conducive for studies. Till 1982 the college was catering educational services only up to intermediate level but with the passage of time it proved itself to be upgraded. So in 1982 it was upgraded to degree level.

36. Amendment and Annulment of RulesThe principal in consultation with the college council is competent to amend the rules and regulations, except those related to admission policy, in the interest of the institution.

37. Ban on Political ActivitiesIn the light of the Supreme Court verdict which reads as under.

“Students’ indulgence in political activities in the college shall be strictly prohibited.”“We, therefore, hereby direct that at the time of admission to the college the student and his parent/guardian shall give an undertaking that the student shall not indulge in politics failing which he shall not be allowed admission. And if after the admission, he violates such undertaking i.e. ‘indulges himself in politics’ he shall be expelled from the college without any further notice.”

It is explained that the finding with regard to “indulgence in politics” given by the principal under his seal and signature shall be final and shall not be questioned except only before the Supreme Court.

The specimen of undertaking given on the following page has to be filled and signed by the student and his father/guardian on judicial paper and attested by a competent authority to be produced at the time of interview/admission.

Unless a candidate is granted admission to the college, there is no need of producing the undertaking along with the admission form. It should be produced at the time of interview/admission.
