VMaster® DSR Electronically ControlledViscous Fan ClutchesHorton is pleased to introduce VMaster® DSR (Direct Sensing Replacement), a series of drop-in replacement fan clutches for a range of Volvo and Mack heavy-duty linehaul and vocational trucks. These viscous fan clutches give Volvo and Mack fleet managers, vehicle owners and operators in United States, Canada and Mexico new repair options.

VMaster DSR Viscous Fan Clutches are plug-and-play replacements for original equipment fan clutches on vehicles shown on the reverse side.

In order to ensure proper fit, verify that the VMaster DSR part number is an exact cross reference match to the OEM fan clutch or fan clutch assembly part number. Horton is not able to provide application engineering support for products that do not correspond to the OEM part number.

Horton, a leader in airflow management, has an advanced Stratis® or VMaster ® viscous fan drive for nearly any engine cooling application. All Stratis and VMaster Viscous products are designed to deliver optimal cooling performance and are compatible with Horton’s or other manufacturers’ fans.

These lightweight fan drives are equipped with a larger, precision, flat bimetal sensor plate that automatically adjusts fan speed based on the air temperature in the engine’s heat exchangers. Operating at variable speeds, they provide cooling only as needed, giving you less noise, greater fuel efficiency and better engine performance.

VMaster Viscous Directly Controlled Fan Drives are managed by the engine’s electronic control unit (ECU) to provide precision fan control, increased cooling performance, improved fuel economy and less noise. Designed for a wide range of applications, they are offered in several sizes and three control configurations, including on/off, PWM (pulse-width-modulation), open loop and PWM with integrated speed monitoring control.

•  Rapid response time (fan speed engages in 10 seconds and disengages in 10 to 30 seconds depending on engine speed)

• Compact size with greater torque for lightweight, powerful performance

• Double-row bearings for durability and longer product life

• Rear electrical connection harness to shield electrical connection from the fan blades

Stratis Viscous Fan Drives are specially designed to cool the new hotter-running, reduced-emission engines. They are managed by the engine’s electronic control unit for precision fan speed control. An innovative reservoir, actuator and valve system deliver faster response time and lower off-speed for maximum efficiency. The result is reduced fan noise and fuel savings.
