The weather was not good with a great deal of rain on both Friday and Saturday; so I am guessing that was part of the reason the public did not make it the show. I did talk to several dealers who advised that they were conduct- ing a lot of business with other dealers. This would make the show worth- while for them. It is al- ways pretty interesting and I normally learn something that I didn't know after taking a look at what they've brought. Of course New Orleans has so very much to offer in the way of sightseeing and restaurants. I admit that I tried to pack as much as I could of both into my short stay there. However, I must ad- mit there is no place like home and I am glad to be back! (See additional photos on page 3 & 4)

National Money Show Highlights By Donna Moon-

The show seemed slow with light public attendance. The weather was not good with a great deal of rain on both Friday and Saturday; so I am guessing that was part of the reason the public did not make it the show. I did talk to several dealers who advised that they were conduct-ing a lot of business with other dealers. This would make the show worth-while for them. June 12, 2013-------1875-CC Seated Dime (Mint mark Below Bow) - VG A problem-free coin with even wear and moderate detail remaining. For reasons unknown, the Carson City and San Francisco mints experimented with two distinctly different mint mark positions in 1875; one with a mint mark above the bow of the wreath on the reverse, and one with a mint mark in its usual position, below the bow of the wreath. Although mintage figures do not differentiate between the two varieties, the experimental "Above Bow" specimens seem to outnumber the normal variety by at least a 3:1 ratio for the Carson City issue. Don't miss your opportunity to own this truly rare piece. PCGS Price Guide: $35 Minimum bid: $30 June 26, 2013---------1916-D Buffalo Nickel - Choice VF A picture-perfect Buffalo nickel free from blemishes or distractions of any note. Sharp details and exceptional eye-appeal. PCGS Price Guide: $39 Minimum bid: $30

Let’s all give a big CFCC Welcome to our newest members-

No new members for the month of May! Let’s all “bring a friend” into the club!

Looking forward to seeing everybody at 6:45 on June 12th , 2013. Bring show and tell! Happy Collecting! Dan Aidif

Last month’s What Happened Here may have been easily misconstrued as a Lincoln cent struck on a foreign planchet. However, there were no foreign planchets in the U. S. Mint that were the weight or size of the coin in question. The answer to this coin being under weight and size comes from a High School lab experiment. The coin was dipped in acid that actually shrunk it to this size and weight.

Each month, we will post photos of a coin that has some type of “problem”. The answer will be given in the following months Numis-Notes!

This Months Mystery-

Don’t forget! Dues were due before May 1st for the current year! If you have not paid yet, your name has been purged from the drawing bin and you are not eligible for “Let’s Make A Deal”, Edu-cational Award, or the membership award! See Donna to keep your membership active!

The Altamonte Springs/Apopka VFW Post 10147 held it’s 25th Anniversary celebration and installation of officers on May 11th, 2013 at the V.F. W. Hall in Apopka. This was a special celebration for their 25th year in Apopka. Several members of the Central Florida Coin Club were honored to be invited to this special ceremony to see the installation of the 2013/2014 officers, including CFCC members Artie Vecchio as Post Commander and Don Mix as Deputy Post Commander. CFCC members in attendance were Bob and Gerry Russell, BJ and Jeanie Neff, Steve Lauer and Zach Lauer. Special guests in attendance were Apopka Mayor John Land, and Apopka City Manager Rich Anderson, both of who were very instrumental in getting the post formed and construction of the building. Congratulations to Artie and Don for your continued support of this worthy organization, and also a belated “Memorial Day Thank You” to all the CFCC members who are active or retired military. Without your service, we would not be able to enjoy all the freedoms we do.

-Submitted by Bob Russell- Next year's gold raffle tickets are being printed and will be available by the next club meeting. The club needs everybody's help in selling the tickets. We sell the most at FUN in July and January followed by our own show at the fairgrounds. Last year I had to throw away over a thousand unsold tickets. It did not put the club in any financial trouble but it was a $1000.00 we did not get for the better of the club. This year, please see BJ Neff or myself and ask for some tickets to sell. They go for 6 for $5 or $1 each if that is all the buyer wants. If you take a pack of 100 and only sell 10, returning 90 that is fine. It's $10 for the club. By the way, you do not pay until you until you either bring the tickets back unsold or bring the money for selling them.

The annual bronze medallions will be ordered next Wednesday. Each dues paid member is en-titled to a bronze medallion. In addition I will be ordering the striking of 25 silver versions of the same medallion. Last year I had 50 made and 25 went unsold. If you want a silver version please let me know as I am making a list of who wants one just in case there are more than 25 requests. Based on the price of silver and the striking fees it look as though they will be priced about $28.00 - $30.00. The exact price is to be determined.

At our coin show in April a good deed was done when the dealers got together and collected money for one of the security guards. I felt too many good things go unnoticed so I wrote a "letter to the editor" and when I met personally with the editors of Numismatic News and Coin World in Chicago I presented it to them for possible publication. It has been published in the current issue of Coin World. Check it out and see YOUR club mentioned in a national publica-tion on a subject other than some dealer being robbed.

It is our goal to have one meeting per month, where a guest speaker (read-a member of the club) gives a short 20 minute presentation on a topic of their choosing-Numismatic related, of course.

We are always looking for volunteers to share their knowledge with the members- The presentation doesn’t need to be “show quality”, just get up and tell us what you know!
