Paradip Port Trust, in the current financial year up to April, 2019
handled 9.55 Million Metric Tonnes as compared to 8.15 Million
Metric Tonnes of Cargo handled during the corresponding period
of the previous year. This is an increase of 17.18% over the traffic
handled during the corresponding period of previous year.
In the current financial year up to April, 2019, POL traffic has
exhibited a growth of 65.73%, Iron Ore traffic has exhibited a
growth of 493.48%. Paradip Port has retained the second highest
position in terms of Cargo handled amongst all the Major Ports till
the end of April, 2019.
The Port also handled 163 vessels in April, 2019 as compared to
152 vessels in April, 2018.
Paradip Port Trust handled 5.04 Million Metric Tonnes rail borne
traffic up to the end of April, 2019 as compared to 4.90 Million
Metric Tonnes handled during the corresponding period of the
previous year.
The Port has already taken a slew of measures which has ensured
improvement in productivity of ship day from 25853 MT in 2018-
19 to 29609 MT for ship day in 2019-20 (up to April, 2019)
witnessing a growth of 14.53% and average Turn-Round-Time
(TRT) has improved from 57.99 Hrs in 2018-19 to 57.74 Hrs in
2019-20.
Paradip Port Trust (PPT) celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Bharat
Ratna Dr. B R Ambedkar with much fervour on 14th April 2019.
The PPT fraternity led by Shri Rineksh Roy, Chairman, PPT
including HODs, Senior officers, employees and representatives
of Paradip Port Trust SC & ST Employees Welfare Associations,
offered floral tributes at the statue of Dr Ambedkar in the morning.
A meeting was held at the Officers' Club. To mark the occasion.
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Shri Saroj Kumar Das, CME,
PPT described Dr. Ambedkar as the crusader of downtrodden and
deprived people. He gave a vivid account of Dr. Ambedkar's life,
works and philosophy. Guests of Honour Shri S. K. Sahu, FA &
CAO and Dr. P. Panda, CMO, PPT also spoke on the occasion. Shri
R.N. Sahu, EE, PPT offered the vote of thanks.

PPT creates all-time record in thermal coal loading
First Ever Corporate Flood Light Cricket Tournament was organised by PPT at Gopabandhu Stadium
The 2nd Inter Department day night cricket tournament was
organised by PPT under the aegis of Gopabandhu Kreeda Sansad
(GKS) from 3rd April to 8th April, 2019. In the final match played
on 08.04.2019 evening, Electrical & Mechanical Department
stood as a winner. After winning the toss against Medical Deptt.,
E&M Deptt. elected to bat first and scored formidable total of 137
runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 15 overs. Chasing the
required target, the Medical Deptt. was bundled out for 116 runs.
Shri Jyotirmaya Rout of E&M Deptt. was adjudged Best All
Rounder of the tournament. Shri Rama Chandra Mohanty of
Administrative Deptt. was given the Best Batsman award, Shri
Santosh Kumar Biswal of Medical Deptt. was the Best Bowler and
Shri Jyotirmaya Rout of E&M Deptt. was awarded for highest
number of sixes. Adminsitrative Deptt. was the second Runners
Up and Marine Deptt. got the third runners up award. Traffic
Deptt. bagged the Fair Play Award.
Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT gave away the prizes in presence
of Smt. Subhalaxmi Roy, President, Paradip Ladies Club and other
HODs of PPT.
Continuing its success story, PPT created yet another new record by loading
1,40,712 MT of thermal coal, which is an all-time high record, on the Cape size
vessel MV Alice at CB1. It surpassed the previous record of 1,30,009 MT
thermal coal loaded on MV Baltic Bear on 13th March, 2019.
2nd Inter Department Cricket Tournament
PPT observes World Health DayThe World Health Day was observed at PPT Hospital on
07.04.2019 with the theme "Health for all : everyone,
everywhere". On this occasion, a walkathon was organised to
create awareness about problems among the denizens of the Port
township. Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, PPT flagged off the
awareness walkathon in which the doctors, paramedical staff of
the PPT Hospital along with HoDs of the PPT, CISF personnel and
general public participated with much enthusiasm. Smt.
Subhalaxmi Roy, President, Paradip Ladies Club and other HODs
of PPT were also present on the occasion. IEC activities and clinic
for screening of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Orthopaedics,
Hypertension, Bone Density, Hb A1 C, and glaucoma were also
conducted on the occasion.
Later on, a seminar was organised in the Hospital Conference Hall
by Dr.Prahlad Panda, Chief Medical Officer, PPT, M/s Novo
Nordisk and ICTC CHC, Paradip.192 people were screened for
different diseases and appropriate advices were given. Chairman,
PPT also awarded the winners of Swachhata competitions held
among different sections of PPT Hospital.
56th National Maritime Day observed at PPTThe 56th National Maritime Day was observed with gusto by
Paradip Port Trust on 5th April, 2019. Gracing the occasion as
Chief Guest, Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, Paradip Port Trust
unfurled the National Maritime Day flag at the function held at
Wet Basin of the Port in the morning. Addressing on the occasion
Shri Roy, highlighted "We Try Harder" campaign of by Avis, which
was struggling to keep up with the No. 1 brand in the car rental
category, Hertz in the sixties. He called upon all the stakeholders
to put up their best efforts, so that PPT can achieve the Mission of
No. 1 Port in India and the coveted 120 MMT cargo handling mark
in the current fiscal. He made some worthy mentions of
innovations put into place by some Departments, PPT Officials
and employees, by which PPT could achieve the coveted 109.27
MMT mark in the last fiscal. Hence, he stressed on imbibing
dedication, innovation and commitment in PPT work culture to
meet the challenges ahead.
Capt. A.K. Mohapatra, Dy. Conservator, PPT elucidated on the
importance of celebration of Maritime day and coined the 120
MMT mission for PPT in the current fiscal. Capt. A.C. Sahu,
Harbour Master, PPT in his welcome address said that the 5th April
is celebrated as National Maritime Day in India because history
was created on this day in the year 1919, when the first Indian
owned ship SS Loyalty, sailed from Bombay to London. Guest of
Honour Dr. Purnnendu Mishra, Sr. Chief Engineer, Marine (Retd.)
was felicitated on the occasion.
Several competitions relating to marine jobs were conducted
amongst the employees of Paradip Port Trust, ladies present on the
occasion, Indian Coast Guard, CISF and the trainees of Orissa
Maritime Academy. Chief Guest Shri Roy gave away the prizes to
the winners. Shri B. Sikdar, Sr. Marine Engineer of PPT tendered
Vote of thanks. In the evening, a seminar was organised by Marine
Deptt. with the theme "100 Years since SS Loyalty" as part of
Merchant Navy Week celebrations from 29th March to 5th April,
2019. Around 200 participants from the State & Central Govt.
Agencies, Port Users, PPT Officials and cadets from Orissa
Maritime Academy participated in the seminar.

the tourney. In the final match played between PPL & Port Users, PPL

score 63 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Coast Guard team bagged the
Fair Play award, IFFCO won the second runners up and PPT emerged

Fire Service Awareness Programme -2019 at PPT
This year, CISF Fire Wing of PPT observed "Fire Service Awareness
Month" from 15.03.2019 to 14.04.2019. A number of awareness
programmes and competitions were organized for the benefit of
PPT employees, Housewives of Employees, CISF personnel,
School Children, Contract workers and General Public. The theme
of the year was "FIRE PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN FIRE
FIGHTING".
Closing Ceremony of the Fire Service Awareness Month was
observed on 23.04.2019 at Main Fire Station. Shri Rinkesh Roy,
IRTS, Chairman PPT was the Chief Guest of the function and had
presented the floral wreath in the honour of Martyrs at Martyr's
column. All the HODs; Unit Head of nearby Industries and Fire &
Safety Officers; Principals, teachers and students from various
schools, Families of CISF unit, Officers from Coast Guard etc
witnessed the Closing Ceremony. One Booklet on Home Safety
and Fire Safety Brochures were also distributed to the public. On
arrival at Main Fire Station, Chairman, PPT inaugurated the newly
prepared Sand Model and appreciated the effort made by the fire
wing personnel on innovative idea.
During the Closing Ceremony of Fire Service Awareness Month, a
live fire fighting and Rescue Demonstration was presented to the
audience, which was highly appreciated by the Chief Guest,
Invitees and audience. The Chief Guest distributed the Prizes to
the Winners of various competitions held during the Fire Service
Awareness Month.
