EnvironmentalRecycling Organic Waste Program
A waste segregation program was initiated in factory in second quarter of 2016
and as a result, the complete waste generated in factory is now segregated into
organic and non-organic waste. In 3rd quarter of 2016, Eratex, with the help of BLH,
Indonesia (Environmental department of Indonesia) initiated a project for recycling
of organic waste by converting it into organic fertilizer through decomposition
process with following simple steps:
a)Organic waste is stored in a drum and weighed.
b)It is mixed with goat excrement in the proportion of 1:3
c) The mix is stored for 2 weeks and it becomes an organic fertilizer after 2
weeks.
This organic fertilizer is used for plants and trees inside factory premises.
Using organic fertilizer is beneficial as compare to chemical fertilizer in
following ways:
•Organicfertilizershelpsinimprovingthestructureofthesoilwhich
increases soil’s ability to hold water and nutrients

As per UNICEF report (source: (UNICEF)), HIV infection is increasing at an alarming
rate in Indonesia as in every 25 minutes one person in Indonesia gets infected by HIV
virus. One of the main reasons is lack of proper awareness about the disease as well
as about the precautionary measures.
Keeping in view, this HER Project committee of Eratex along with YBS (Yayasan Balita
Sehat)arranged a discussion session with HIV-AIDS patients from ODH (KDS Prolink)
Community. 40 Peer Educators of Eratex participated in this session to get in depth
knowledge about HIV-AIDS. One of the main purpose of direct interaction was to help
participants understand that HIV-AIDS patients should not be discriminated, as HIV-
AIDS is transmitted only by direct contact of body fluids and not by touching or inter-
acting with the patients.
