It has been a great start at
Tree of Life International!
We now have 90 students
in grades TK-4th and about
18 more who just started
preschool! And what
sweet, smart, kind kids we
have! Thank you parents
for choosing to make our
school your community.
Our teachers are very hap-
py with progress so far,
and see their classes coming
together as a family.
Substitutes Needed: Did you
know that if you have your
BA degree, you can qualify
to be a substitute teacher?
Please call or come in the
office for info on this pro-
cess. We would love to have
several TLC parents who are
qualified and ready when
needed.
Parent Drivers: We would
like to plan several field trips
this year for each classroom.
In order to do this, we will
need to rely on qualified
parent drivers to drive and
chaperone. Please fill out the
Parent Driver form to be
authorized to drive. Talk
to your teacher if you
have ideas for field trips
and want to help organize
these!

Familias de TLC,
¡Ha sido un gran comienzo en Tree of Life International! ¡Ahora tenemos 90 estu-diantes en los grados TK-4th y alrededor de 18 más que acaba de comenzar el pree-scolar! ¡Y qué niños más dulces, inteligentes y amable tenemos! Guy. At TLC you may find Drew sup-
porting teachers in the classroom with
anything tech related; setting up our
new computer lab; taking photos and
making special slide shows for our stu-
dents, staff and parents to enjoy; super-
vising on the playground; and teaching
Japanese (and soon ukulele) to our stu-
dents on Wednesdays!
SCHOOL LUNCH: Lunch service is up
and running—thanks to Erika for taking on
this new role of coordinating the lunch pro-
gram! From what I can see, the food looks
great with fresh salad, veggies and fruits
every day and healthy entrees the kids like.
Full price lunch costs $2.50. You can pay
Erika before school in the office, or parents
can put $ on their students account at
myschoolbucks.com.

Alrededor de 30-40 padres asistieron a la primera junta de Amigos el miércoles por la noche. Varias de las fuerzas de trabajos fueron creadas para comenzar a trabajar en proyectos alrededor de la escuela incluyendo: El Jardín, Recicla-je, Carnaval de Otoño y más.
¡Por favor enlístate para ayudar con nuestro carnaval del Otoño el 28 de octubre! Mesas de comida, Mesas de Juegos, Premios de Rifas, Vender bole-tos, Canastas para Rifar de clases, estas son las maneras en las que pue-des ayudar.

En cada salón vemos una variedad de personalidades y necesidades para
aprender. Esta dinámica siempre crea comunidad. Aquí en TLC estamos tra-tando de ser muy intencionales acerca
de esta comunidad de aprendizaje. Nuestro deseo es que cada niño se sienta como si pertenecieran a una
comunidad donde son valorados, escu-chados y apoyados. Sabemos que ha-
brá momentos de conflicto entre los estudiantes y nuestra primera prioridad es restaurar la relación. Los errores son
errores y todo el mundo los comete. Tendremos una CHARLA con los dos estudiantes juntos mientras escucha-
mos su historia, cómo se sienten y lue-go hablaremos de una manera de arre-glar las cosas. Generalmente es pedir
perdón. Nuestra expe-riencia es que ambos estudiantes se con-vierten en mejores amigos y que nadie
queda etiquetado co-mo "niño mal educa-do" o "bully". Esta es-
trategia se llama “Prácticas Restaura-tivas” y se utiliza en escuelas de todo el
mundo. Para ayudar a los estudiantes a entender que es un ambiente de
aprendizaje saludable, nos enfocamos cada mes en un rasgo de carácter dife-rente. Para septiembre nos estamos
enfocando en el RESPETO.
Estamos usando nuestro tiempo de Corazón de León para celebrar y dar cuenta de los tiempos cuando mostra-ron respeto por sí mismos, su ambiente de aprendizaje y entre sí. Enseñamos que seguir las REGLAS es una manera de mostrar respeto porque así mante-nemos un ambiente sano y contribui-mos al buen aprendizaje. Cada mañana es un nuevo día para todos nuestros estudiantes y maestros como los erro-res de ayer y el comportamiento irres-petuoso es amorosamente tratado, y todos comenzamos otro día creyendo lo mejor el uno al otro.
Classrooms are places where multi-
ple personalities and needs all show up
to learn. This dynamic always creates
community. Here at TLC we are at-
tempting to be very intentional about
this learning community. Our desire is
that each child feels like they belong to
a community where they are valued,
listened to and supported. We know
there will be times of conflict between
students and our first priority is to re-
store the relationship. Mistakes are
mistakes and everyone makes
them. We will have a “CHAT” with
both students together as we listen to
their story, how they are feeling and
then discuss a way to make things
right. This is usu-
ally an apolo-
gy. Our experience
is that both stu-
dents usually be-
come better friends
and that no one is
labelled a “bad
kid” or
“bully”. This strat-
egy is called Re-
storative Practices
and is used in
schools worldwide.
To further help students understand
what makes a healthy learning environ-
ment we focus each month on a differ-
ent character trait. For September we
are focusing on RESPECT.
We are using our daily Circle Time
(Corazón de León) to celebrate and
discuss where students showed respect
for themselves, their learning environ-
ment and each other. We teach that
following RULES are ways we show
respect because they help us stay safe
and contribute to good learning.
Each morning is a new day for all
our students and teachers as yesterday’s
mistakes and disrespectful behavior is
lovingly dealt with and we all begin
another day believing the best about
