Prayer at the End of the School Year

For everything there is a season, And a time for every matter under heaven,

A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted;

A time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh;....

A time to keep, and a time to throw away;.... A time to keep silence, and a time to speak.

(Ecclesiastes 3:1-7)

At the end of this school year, as we reflect upon the past ten months, we are grateful for the many blessings we have

experienced as a school. We thank you, God for the time

that we have spent together.

We ask pardon for all of the wrongs we have done, and for any good we have neglected to do. We ask for your contin-

ued care and guidance throughout the summer months.

We ask this in the name of Your Son,

Jesus.

Amen.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is hard to believe that the final days of this school year are almost upon us!

I would like to take this op-portunity to thank all of the St. Pius X Catholic School community – students, par-ents and staff – for ensur-ing a wonderful year for all. Your support and assis-tance throughout the course of the school year have guaranteed that the

many initiatives and events that make our school such a special place continue to flourish and grow.

St. Pius X is a very special place! The tremendous school spirit and enthusi-asm evidenced by all are testament to it!

Sincerely,

L. Sposato

September 2015 Student Placements

At the end of June, staff will begin the process for deter-mining student placements for September 2015. When generating class lists, some of the criteria include: aca-demic ability (specifically in English and Mathematics, as well as overall achieve-ment), individual work hab-its, student skills, maturity and social factors. We look

to create classes that have a balance of gender and ability, as well as other needs. Should there be specific information that you wish to share with us (recent assessment results, medical concerns, etc.), please provide this infor-mation in writing to the of-fice. Our decisions are made only after careful consideration of all the in-formation and are based on the needs of each child

balanced with the common good of the entire school community. We are looking to minimize disruptions but, as always, look to your understanding and flexibility should the need arise to address classroom changes. Our staffing is tentative and changes can take place between our tentative class placements and the first day of school (and some-times even thereafter).

St. Pius X TEAM MAYA

Once again this year, on Sunday May 10th, 2015, our St. Pius TEAM MAYA participated in the Sport-ing Life 10K Run, to hon-our Maya’s inspiration and courage, and in support of

Camp Ooch. Many St. Pius staff, stu-dents, and parents, includ-ing the Kim Family, and our very own student, Ma-ya, formed and participat-ed in this 10 K run down

Yonge Street, all wearing their purple Maya Team

shirt. Together, TEAM MAYA raised over $8,000 for Camp Ooch, enough to send at least six children to camp for an entire

week! Special thanks Ms. Arbelle Manicate-Emo and to Ms. Linda Acton for their lead-ership and commitment in organizing this event, the St. Pius X Running Club, and in finding so many

willing and eager partici-

accomplish together.

Congratulations to ALL!

Staff Appreciation Luncheon

St. Pius staff will enjoy a delicious luncheon on June 15th, prepared and hosted by our CSPC members. Many parent volunteers not only pre-pare the delicious food, but also make themselves available for setting up, clean up and or supervi-sion, as staff enjoy their gourmet lunch. Sincerest

St. Pius Me to We Committee Initiative

The St. Pius Me to We Committee continue to be actively involved in a num-ber of events. On May 3rd, 4th, and 5th, many of our grade 7 and 8 students participated on a leadership retreat to Camp Olympia. This retreat, host-ed by TCDSB, saw students from many schools across our board come together and take part in various collaborative leadership workshops, all focussing on

directing new found skills towards helping others in our community and beyond. Our students also had the opportunity to get to know other students from various schools within our board. Motivational speaker D.O. (Defy the Odds), a Canadi-an Rapper came to speak to the students and educate them on anti-bulling/anti-violence promotion, peer pressure, leadership, and working at one’s peak per-formance. St. Pius X lead-ers also competed in a Lip

Syncing and a school video contest. St. Pius proudly finished in second place in the Lip Syncing contest, and finished in FIRST place in the School Video contest. Some of our stu-dents were also honoured with awards for being out-standing campers…Congratulations to Hannah, Olivia N., and Daniel S. Our students were great ambassadors of St. Pius and our entire community is proud of all our future lead-ers!

May School Rosary On May 28th, our school community finished the month of May in prayer by reciting the Rosary as a school community. It is said that the Holy Rosary is one of the most important gifts to

the world from Mother Mary. Through the intercession of Mother Mary to Jesus, our prayers were dedicated to all those in our school commu-nity, especially those in need. Special thanks to Ms. Fatigati, Ms. Chown and all the grade 2 students that led

Catholic Education Week: Music Concert and Art Gallery On May 6th, 2015, our JK to Grade 8 students, staff and parent community celebrat-ed Catholic Education Week through music and art. As a school community we grow in our faith in the nurturing atmosphere of our Catholic community, our parish, and our home. This was evident more than ever as we en-joyed the Grade 8 instru-mental Band and our St. Pius Choir sing and play a variety of melodies and gen-
