FROM THE PASTOR:

The resurrection of Jesus opens the door to a

larger world than the one we have lived in day

by day. At the grave Mary’s tears were mingled

with confusion when she saw that the stone cov-

ering the tomb had been moved. When she

didn’t find the body there she assumed someone

had taken it. This added to the cruel humiliation

of the cross. She told the disciples, “They took

Jesus and I don’t know where he is.” When

John came to the grave and saw the stone

moved and grave clothes left behind amazingly

from such circumstantial evidence he knew that

Jesus had risen from the dead. The incredible

truth was: death didn’t win, Jesus won!

It is not always easy to recognize the risen

Christ in our daily life experiences. When our

loved one is lying in a tomb or when we are

withering from endless problems and troubles

we don’t always see or understand how the risen

Christ is at work.

The great saving grace is that when we plum-

met in darkness and doubt, unseen hands catch

us. The risen Christ is at work.

Jesus also does not give up on us. Mary is a

good example for us. She was so overcome with

grief that she didn’t recognize Christ. Jesus did

not give up on her. He came finally speaking

her name.

Christ recognized in our lives also comes by

our love. The interruptions which come in life

can often be “Christ” at our door.

The resurrection of Jesus opens the door to a

larger world than the one we live in. At Easter

time we get a peek through the door into that

larger and more lasting world. As we see signs

of the risen Christ in our midst it changes the

way we live in this world.

Your friend and Pastor,

Pastor Janet Warnes

Tips from Thrivent Financial

Has your life changed?

When people experience a significant life change, they often seek guidance to help make important financial decisions. Life events may include:

Marriage: About two-thirds of married people say they disagree with their spouse about money.1

Birth or adoption of a child: Adjusting your budget is important. So is evaluating your need for additional disability income and life insurance coverage, as well as considering college savings plans.

Inheritance: Many people plan for death, but often overlook the fact that they might receive a loved one’s legacy.

Retirement: Financially preparing for retirement, as well as appropriately tapping one’s financial assets in retire-ment, is key.

Whatever life changes you’ve experienced, talking with a financial professional about your values, goals and needs can help secure your financial future.

Tips for Teaching your Teen about Money Management:

As a parent, you want to teach your teen about making good choices, and learning how to manage money is part of that process. While the early years might be spent teaching the basics of money and how it is used, the teen years bring another set of challenges. Allowances, money from jobs, the constant bombardment from advertisers, and peer pressure to buy the latest and greatest, add a whole new dimension to learning the ropes of managing money. The following tips from Thrivent Financial can help you and your teen get on the right track towards establishing a financial foundation to last a lifetime:

Create spending and savings patterns.

Get started on a path to build credit.

Set goals.

Begin saving for retirement.

Don’t bail them out.

Develop a realistic budget.

Use a personal financial management tool.

For financial guidance about these and other topics, contact Chad Erickson at 218-773-1181 today.

Or visit Thrivent.com.
