Shopping in Den Burg Most shops on Texel are in Den Burg, the

‘capital town’ and range from small local shops

to international chains. There’s also a great

market there every Monday morning.

Shopping by the sea

The De Koog coastal resort is a great place

to shop. Discover one of the many clothes

and home furnishing shops. Or shops selling

beach and camping products and sportswear.

After shopping, head to the beach for a well-

deserved drink.

Virtually every village has supermarkets and

Visit a museum Islanders like to talk about the island’s past in

the various museums. For example, the Ecomare

seal sanctuary and the nature centre, the Flora

beachcombers’ museum and the lighthouse.

A story about islanders often underlies the

If you love art, visit one of the special exhibitions

in the island’s various galleries. Texel artists

are inspired by nature and the island’s unique

atmosphere.

Cinema and theatre

Anyone who thinks that Texel doesn’t love fi lm

or theatre is wrong: the latest national and

international fi lms all play at Cinema Texel in

the centre of Den Burg! The Klif 12 theatre in

Den Hoorn always has a full programme too,
