Beginning on January 8th, the SCC is put-
ting out a “WARRIOR At Home Reading
Challenge” to all our students.
From January 8th to February 8th stu-
dents will keep track of the minutes that
they read (at home) per day. (Tally sheets
to record reading minutes will be sent
home.) We will have a reading
“thermometer” displayed in the front lob-
by where we will monitor the progress and
watch the minutes go up each day!
Then on February 12th at 1:00 p.m. we
will celebrate this month of reading with a
REWARD—A MOVIE AFTERNOON!!
If our reading total is over …
66000 minutes = Movie
76000 minutes = Movie & Popcorn
86000 minutes = Movie, Popcorn, Drink
& Candy Bag
Waldeck School has 126 stu-
dents and a total of 79 families .
Based on those numbers, if every
student reads approximately 18
minutes per day - 66000
minutes total, they will get a mov-
ie afternoon.
If every student reads approxi-
mately 20 minutes per day -
76000 minutes total, they will get
a movie afternoon and popcorn.
If every student reads approxi-
mately 23 minutes per day -
86000 minutes total, they will get
a movie afternoon, popcorn, a
drink and a candy bag.
Keep reading Warriors!!

Me - to - We
The Me-to-We had a great December. Our volunteer goal this year is to
work with seniors, so we made crafts and then went carolling at the Herbert
Nursing Home. It put us all in the Christmas spirit!
On the last day of school before the break, we hosted a lasagne lunch for the
junior high students and staff, paid for by the school and Me-to-We dona-
tions. We turned out to be really good cooks!
In January we will have canteens for junior high students on these days:
January 8—Chicken Nuggets January 22—Perogies
January 15—Fries and Poutine January 29—Taco-in-a-bag
Please join with us in welcoming Miss Hillary Strain to our faculty
at Waldeck School. Miss Strain is a U of R graduate and previ-
ously this fall was teaching at the Hodgeville School.
Miss Strain is our Grade 8 homeroom teacher and her teaching
assignment will be primarily in the junior high area of our school.
She will teach many of the junior high classes in Grade 7/8, in-
cluding our Arts Ed program for Grade 7/8/9.
Welcome to our school Miss Strain!

Sr. Girls Basketball
Our season is underway with three games un-
der our belt before the holidays. We had an
exhibition game against Centennial school,
and two SWAC league games against Gull
Lake and Shaunavon. We had an intense
game at home against Shaunavon, which of-
fered us some great competition. It was excit-
ing to watch and the girls had everyone on the
bench and in the crowd hanging on the edge
of their seats!
Our SWAC league games are on Thursdays
and unfortunately we don't host any at home
this month, but we hope to have you all cheer-
ing us on from home! You can see the at-
tached schedule for this month. Thanks to all
the parents and athletes for their continued
commitment and support! We look forward to
seeing and hearing all of you in the stands!
