Aberystwyth Arts Centre and other locations throughout Wales Wales Festival of Architecture Programme - April, May 2018 The Wales Festival of Architecture returns in April and May for a programme of talks, films, exhibitions and workshops on the subject of architecture, design and the environment. Venturing beyond our hub at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, the 2018 Festival reaches out to a wider audience across Wales to explore the positive impact that well-considered architecture has on people’s everyday lives and experience. We hope the 2018 Festival of Architecture will offer something of interest for everyone who cares about the places and spaces around us. DESIGN WORKSHOP Saturday 21 April 10am-5.30pm Be an architect for the day After a briefing on the history of architecture, drawing techniques and the practicalities of sustainable design, try your hand at producing architectural drawings and designing an eco- building in one day! End the day with a screening of Strange and Familiar: architecture on Fogo Island at 4.30pm, documenting a bold architectural and cultural project to regenerate a Newfoundland fishing community. Tickets: £5 adults; £3 students/youth To include sandwich lunch For all ages from 12+ Cinema and studios, Aberystwyth Arts Centre Book through Aberystwyth Arts Centre Box Office EXHIBITIONS Wednesday 18 April to Sunday 27 May A celebration of Welsh architecture in photographs and words Photographer James Morris has captured the essence of how people live, study and work in the best new buildings in Wales, shortlisted by awards juries in 2017. Welsh language poet Elan Grug Muse has responded to the projects by writing a poem about each one.
