BASED IN ALICE SPRINGSThe Northern Institute is Charles Darwin University’s flagship research institute for social and public policy research, development and education, social sciences and humanities. The position of Senior Research Fellow/Associate Professor, Remote Education is funded by Ninti One Ltd, through the CRC for Remote Economic Participation. The CRC is a public good research centre that delivers solutions to economic disadvantaged in remote Australia. The CRC contributes to the Australian Government’s ‘Closing the Gap’ priority policy, which aims to halve the unemployment, welfare and other differences between Aboriginal people in remote areas and the rest of Australia.
A vacancy exists for a senior researcher to take a leading role in the Remote Education Research Project conducted in partnership with State, Territory and Federal Government agencies, NGOs and Aboriginal people. A key focus for this position will be working closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people in getting their voice heard in the supply of education in remote Australia.
We are seeking an appropriately qualified professional with experience in a senior role within a complex research project environment involving multiple partners and other stakeholders, preferably within a remote area context. The ability to establish rapport quickly, together with strong cross-cultural communication skills, is essential.

This role is with the DFC, APY Lands Community Programs team. The primary responsibility of this role is the personal care of an indigenous female with a disability within her community at Mimili. The role will also be required to support the DFC team in its delivery of their programs including family support, local disability support services and the Home and Community Care program.
Special Conditions: Full time role based at Marla (in the � rst instance) and working on the APY Lands. Accommodation is provided and remote locality incentives apply. A current driver’s licence is essential and the ability and willingness to drive in remote locations and be willing to undertake 4WD training. (Female applicants only pursuant to Section 65 of the EO Act).
