DIRECTOR ’S NOTES

Write Me a Murder is a play about connections with characters. Although the plot may exist, the characters and their motivations, their thrills and excitements are what perpetuate the story forward. Without our human instincts, needs, desires, thoughts, and feelings, life would be at a stand still. A perspective can always change and sometimes warp.

Write Me a Murder, although an internal mystery and psychological thriller, is an outlook on how a relationship with a person, with a place, or with a story can change the life of one’s self, as well as everyone around him or her. Actions create consequences, and consequences in turn create action. Fredrick Knott has written us a reverberant twist of the mind put into play with few actors, one set, and a focus; just one idea can create an immediate success or an abrupt downfall. Enjoy the play.

Thank you to the cast and crew of Write Me a Murder. Without you, we’d have a blank stage the likes of which, though alluring to some, is a bore to most.

A special thanks to Gene Schuldt who helped with combat staging. Without go-ing unnoticed is the dedication of the Waukesha Civic Theatre’s administration and production leaders who are worthy of the audiences they draw.

Also a thanks to community members who find theatre not only luxurious, elevating, and entertaining, but a necessity. You are the reason we are all here today.

SPOTLIGHT ON BOARD OF D IRECTOR

Every so often we hear from friends, family or co-workers about the discovery of a hidden gem in our community. Whether it be a special restaurant, vacation spot, or unique store, it’s exciting to learn about and visit new places.

When it comes to great entertainment, there is no better jewel than Waukesha’s own Civic Theatre. Now in its 54th season, the Waukesha Civic Theatre offers a wide variety of performances and educational

opportunities that enrich our community’s culture. With so many programs and activi-ties geared for any age, you are sure to find something to fit your particular interest.

Our biggest challenge is to spread the word to more people in our community about the excellent entertainment and educational offerings the theatre provides. So we ask that you please become an ambassador of the theatre by telling everyone you know to see a production like tonight’s performance of Write Me A Murder or asking them to check out one of our many enjoyable educational opportunities.

Become engaged and help shine the spotlight on one of Waukesha’s finest gems.

M AD CORNER

I would like to thank everyone that supports WCT! We wouldn’t be here without you. All of our volunteers help us out in any number of ways by acting, ushering, serving on the board of directors, providing maintenance or office support, or working on sets, costumes, props. Our patrons come to WCT see quality live entertainment, the fruits of our volunteers’ labor. Our donors help keep us financially sound by their gifts to the Annual Operating Fund, the Endowment Fund, or by including us in their planned

giving. The generosity of the Waukesha community astounds me, and I truly appreciate all the time, talent, and money that you give to WCT. Enrich. Challenge. Entertain. That says it all, so keep watching, keep participating with, and keep supporting this cultural cornerstone. We couldn’t do it without you.

THEATRE INFOR M ATION

ACAP PLAYMAKERS provide daytime performances (often of original works) based upon school curricula, themes, and ideas relevant to children at various stages of their education. The fall PlayMakers production is geared to our elementary students, and the spring production is produced for middle school students. While offered primarily to school groups, these family friendly shows are great for public, private, and home school groups, Boy and Girl Scout troops, senior centers, and your family! Tickets are only $5 (or $4 each for groups of 20 or more), please call (262) 547-0708. PlayMakers rehearse and perform in the daytime, and are always looking for new actors and technical personnel.

ACCESSIBILITY The Margaret Brate Bry-ant Civic Theatre Building is fully handi-capped accessible and WCT is proud to offer a number of services for our patrons who have special needs. (Four (4) week notice is required and services

are based upon availability.) For the hearing impaired, we have FM listening devices that will amplify the sounds of the performance. Patrons who are blind can receive audio descriptive ser-vices for the performance. Wheelchair accessibility is available in two forms: transfer seats and wheelchair positions. PATRONS Please refrain from wearing highly scented colognes, perfumes, hand cream or after shave to perfor-mances as many people have allergies/respiratory problems. WCT is con-cerned for all patrons and we appreci-ate your cooperation.

PARKING Parking is available on Main Street, in the Riverfront Plaza parking area behind the Theatre, off Barstow Street, in the parking facility on Broad-way, and other locations in downtown Waukesha.

REMINDER: As a courtesy to those who arrive on time, Late Comers will be seated at First Break!
