Objetivo: Revisar e introducir vocabulario sobre trabajo voluntario y emprendimientos a través de actividades de comprensión lectora, escritura, organización de información, inferencia, selección y aplicación para el fomento de vocabulario temático de voluntariado y emprendimientos.

Nota: Este objetivo está basado en los Objetivos de Aprendizaje priorizados del Programa de Estudio de 3° medio.

  1. ¿Qué es un solucionario?  

Un solucionario incluye las respuestas a todas las preguntas y actividades.  

Algunas de las preguntas tienen más de una posible respuesta.  

Algunas de las preguntas tienen una sola respuesta.    

2. ¿Cómo revisar mis respuestas?   Encontrarás títulos en los encabezados de los ejercicios que

dicen “answers” en respuestas cerradas, y en el caso de respuestas abiertas encontraras un encabezado indicando “answers may vary”.  

  3. Las respuestas en ejercicios de verdadero falso, llenado de

tablas, unión de letras y dibujos, etc. pueden estar en: Negrita   Subrayado     Sombreado con colores de formato de guia (purpura, verde,

naranjo) Encerradas en círculos Destacadas   Tachadas  

  4. Ejemplos de respuestas se ilustran a continuación:

  I) What is the first thing you think of when you look at it? Why?  

Answers may vary.  Example: Art, music, painting. Because there are different people doing these activities.    

II) Find the words to complete the sentences using the picture clues. For extra help you can use the Pictionary at the end.  

  a. The artists used materials like rubber, plaster and styrofoam to make their art.  b. Pomaire pottery is mainly made of clay. Don´t forget to visit this magical village!

SECTION 1: SETTING THE CONTEXT:

Hello everyone! Welcome to unit number 4. In this unit we will learn about volunteer work overseas through different activities and games.

1. Look at the pictures and answer the following questions.

a. What do you think these people are doing? Answers may varyThey are getting together to help others.

b. Do you think they get paid for what they do? Answers may varyNo, I do not. I think they help because they do not care about getting paid for that.

Below are just a few different areas you can volunteer in. A) Volunteer work: Environmental

Whether it be climate change campaigning, water way cleaning or plants you are interested in there is a range of environmental opportunities. B) Volunteer work: Children and young people

There are lots of opportunities to volunteer with young people, whether within a primary or secondary school or with youth groups around the capital. Opportunities can include mentoring, training and workshops on different areas and fun activities with disabled children.C) Volunteer work: Animal rescue and animal care volunteeringThis volunteer projects involves working with a range of wild and domestic animals. Make a difference to the lives of elephants, monkeys, bears, leopards, jaguars, horses, dogs, cats, turtles and a variety of tropical birds and reptiles.D) Volunteer work: Refugees-Migrants

Opportunities volunteering with refugee and migrant workers can vary from lunch and dinner time support, language skills and pro bono legal support, amongst other things.E) Volunteer work: Short-term volunteeringWe specialise in ethical 1 - 3-week short term volunteering projects that make a holiday with a difference. Volunteer work: Elderly and disabled

Volunteer with elderly people and disabled, be it helping them with their shopping, chatting to them about days gone by and playing chess.

6. So far, we have learnt about different kinds of volunteer work overseas with a focus on education, poverty, animal care and social change among others. So, for this week project you need to do the following:
