Locations

Many of the locations that were used in our Social Action Film were situated within the college building, so we did not require clearance to film in those areas as most of our filming took place within the TV studio and Media department with cutaways to other parts of the college.

Location 1: Social Action Interview: Friday 11th December 2015, TV studio

Codes of Practice and Regulations

CopyrightWe did not need to worry about Copyright as we were given permission by the college to use all of the college’s footage and music in our film as it is used for educational purposes within the college itself.

MCPS-PRSWe did not infringe on the mechanical copyright protection during the making of our film as our film will be shown within the college’s interactive media department as the college owns the rights to all the footage and materials that was used in our film, with exception to photographs of Jude Kuzma’s own work.

Location PermissionsAs our movie was shot within the Northern Building of the college and was also just used as cutaways for our film, we did not need location permissions.

In each of our scenes of our Social Action film, we used a JVC camera and Tripod with a boom mic; we filmed most of our cutaways in the Northern Building and our interviews were done in the radio and TV Studios, we did not encounter any problems with any of our locations as we made sure that we followed the Health and Safety procedures; this included that all equipment was erected and disabled in the proper manner, we also made sure that while filming that all fire exits were clear and that all wires were out of the way so no-one would trip over them.

Equipment that will be used

JVC CamerasThese are the video cameras that we will use to record the footage for our Social Action Project; they are extremely heavy and rely on Tripods to hold them in order to record the footage; however, the camera’s mic was not good enough to pick up any of the sound that was captured through the camera.

Tripod

The tripods that we will use for our Social Action are used to hold the camera in place with we were recording the footage needed for our Social Action Project, the legs of the tripod could be adjusted for different angles and heights so that we could capture the footage from a higher or lower position.

Page 12: eoinsmediawork.weebly.com · Web viewHealth and Safety/Risk Assessment In each of our scenes of our Social Action film, we used a JVC camera and Tripod with a boom mic; we filmed

Boom Mic

The boom mic will be used to record sound for our Social Action as the mic that was attached to the JVC Video Camera would not pick up any sound that was captured along with the footage; the boom mic

would help us record sound from a distance without the mic getting into frame.

Studio LightsWe will also use Studio Lights in order to create suitable lighting for our social action project; we will use these lights during the Support Worker interview part of our Social Action Film in order to brighten up the area around the interviewee.

Green Screen

The Green Screen will be used during one of the interviews for our Social Action Project in order to drop photos and all ready-recorded video footage into the background of the interview when it is taking place; however, we will need to cover up the green screen with the footage that we have pre-recorded for our

project.

Page 13: eoinsmediawork.weebly.com · Web viewHealth and Safety/Risk Assessment In each of our scenes of our Social Action film, we used a JVC camera and Tripod with a boom mic; we filmed

Dictaphone

The Dictaphone will be used to record only audio for our Social Action project; we will do one of our Social Action Interviews by using the Dictaphone and after being transferred into editing Software, will allow us to place footage and photos over the top of the recorded audio.

Mic Cables

The Mic Cables will be used to connect the Boom Mic to the JVC Video Camera; however, we need to make sure that no one trips over the leads during our time recording the footage.

Mac ComputersWe will use the Mac Computers in order to edit our social action project; the program we will use is Final Cut Pro as this allows us to edit footage together at a professional level.

During the process of making this film, we overcame a number of obstacles during the production process, which included having problems with the sound as we had to put the sound through Audacity to help make the sound fit in line with the rest of the film. I have learnt now learned how to use Audacity and this will be important going into semester 2.

We showed our film to the Media class and received positive feedback and we also showed the video to our client and they gave us a positive response, we have now been asked to go to Stormont to present the film to the MLA’s at a function on February 2nd.
