FULFILLED FOUR LESSONS DEAR PARENTS: We realize that you, as parents, are the primary faith influencers in your child’s life. The best disciple making takes place when students’ parents take the lead. That’s why we’ve created this helpful guide for you to use at home with your child. It is designed to give you some basic information about what is being taught at church through the Intersections curriculum, along with some helpful tools, suggestions, and questions to help you reinforce this learning at home. Intersections focuses on God’s movement toward us on a daily, lifelong, and eternal level, and how these intersections change the way we view ourselves and the world. These four lessons (Fulfilled) help students view God’s laws and covenants as promises that he has already fulfilled. MAIN TOPICS AND SCRIPTURE COVERED FOR YOU TO KNOW: FOR YOU TO ASK: 1: Laying Down the Law (Exodus 20:1-21) This lesson introduces students to God’s Law, specifically the Ten Commandments. They will learn that the Law connects us to God, keeps us safe, and helps us point others to him. What household rules do we have that you don’t like following? How do some of our family rules help us enjoy each other more? 2: Promises, Promises (Hebrews 9:15-28) In this lesson, students learn that covenants are sacrificial relationships that involve major promises from one or both sides. They discover why it doesn’t make sense to live as if they’re still under the Old Covenant when God has offered a better New Covenant through Jesus. What is one promise I can make to better show you how much I love you? What is one promise you can make to better show me how much you love me? 3: Nobody’s Perfect (Matthew 5:17- 22) This lesson explains to students how Which members of our family tend to be rule-followers? Which members are more

FULFILLEDFOUR LESSONS

DEAR PARENTS:We realize that you, as parents, are the primary faith influencers in your child’s life.

MAIN TOPICS AND SCRIPTURE COVEREDFOR YOU TO KNOW: FOR YOU TO ASK:

1: Laying Down the Law (Exodus 20:1-21)This lesson introduces students to God’s Law, specifically the Ten Commandments. They will learn that the Law connects us to God, keeps us safe, and helps us point others to him.

What household rules do we have that you don’t like following?

How do some of our family rules help us enjoy each other more?

2: Promises, Promises (Hebrews 9:15-28)In this lesson, students learn that covenants are sacrificial relationships that involve major promises from one or both sides. They discover why it doesn’t make sense to live as if they’re still under the Old Covenant when God has offered a better New Covenant through Jesus.

What is one promise I can make to better show you how much I love you?

What is one promise you can make to better show me how much you love me?

3: Nobody’s Perfect (Matthew 5:17-22)This lesson explains to students how Jesus came to fulfill God’s Law, not to abolish it. It emphasizes heart transformation over strict rule-following, while highlighting the importance of obeying God’s commands as an outflow of our love for him.

Which members of our family tend to be rule-followers? Which members are more rebellious? (Remember, no judgments.)

How can we change our weekly routine to show that God is this family’s number-one priority?

4: Back to the Future (Revelation 21:1-8)In this lesson, students learn what God has in store for his followers in eternity. They will see how the knowledge of that future should change how we live right now.

What can we change, as a family, that will help us get a little closer to living like citizens of God’s kingdom right now? (e.g., a change in how we spend our time or money; what we talk and pray about together.)

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO TOGETHERLiving the Future Now

Read Revelation 7:9–10 and 21:1–8 together as a family. Discuss the picture of eternity with God that the Bible describes.

Which aspects of this future are you most looking forward to? Which aspects are mind-boggling? How is the earth right now different from the restored earth described in these verses?

As a family, choose one aspect of this future vision that you wish were truer in your lives right now. Maybe it’s the vision of people of every ethnicity living and worshiping together. Maybe it’s God’s promise to “wipe every tear” from our eyes. Or maybe it’s the close, loving relationship God has with his people. Whatever you choose, talk about a specific, tangible way your family can start living that reality right now. Some possibilities you could try are:

Inviting a family with a very different background over for dinner. Serving together at a children’s home or homeless shelter to help ease the pain of other people. Setting apart time for your family to encourage each other and grow in your love for one another.

Whatever you choose, try to pick an activity that will get all the members of your family together, actively engaging others in your community.
