Work to be undertaken at home over the course of this week. Each day will consist of one English activity, one Maths activity and other tasks that should be completed during the week. Fantastic Year 4, I hope that you and your families are keeping well. As usual, you have been stars and keeping me updated on the progress of your work. Well done!

Did you enjoy learning about Tutankhamun? What do you think is the most possible cause of his death? What did you think about Beth’s plan to save them from being eaten by the vicious crocodiles from the Nile?

This week we will focus on: tenths and hundredths in Maths, revising the spellings of more words with suffixes, completing reading comprehension, planning, writing, and editing instructions in English, reflecting on our parish community, exploring more Ancient Egyptian gods, and finally studying different types of animals and their diets.

Remember to use Purple Mash, Education City and First News ihub to support your learning and to play various educational games, especially for times tables and spellings.

As usual, I linked all the Resources to One Drive documents. If you have One Drive installed on your device, you only need to CTRL+ CLICK on the underlined link and the attachment will open.

Like previously, you can also access TenTen resources where you will find daily prayers for you to pray at home and the Sunday Liturgy that you can lead at home too. We have now finished all the mysteries of the Rosary, however you are invited to continue to pray on the Rosary with your family.

Have you stared reading ‘The Ickabog’ by J.K. Rowling? You can access it online for free, you just have to click here to read the story!

Remember to include: our parish priest’s name, what he does, what happens in the parish. Finally, write a prayer and thank God for our lovely parish.

Foundation Subjects:Ancient Egypt

Reflect: First, read ‘How the Year Changed’ story. Next, look at ‘Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt Tree’. Which another new god did you meet in the story? Finally, read ‘Isis and Osiris’ and ‘Isis and the Cobra’. Can you make notes of any differences between the two stories? Understand: The Ancient Egyptians used these myths (the creation one as well as the stories read today) to try to explain the world around them – they did not have the understanding we have today of how the Earth began, the nature of the sky, why the Sun appears to move across the sky each day, etc. They felt that magic must be involved because they could not explain things in any other way.Challenge: Read the instructions from ‘Egyptian God Puppets’. Can you make your own Egyptian god puppet? Use the family tree from ‘Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt Tree’ for inspiration. Once you made your god puppet, maybe you can act out one of the stories that you read today. If you want to find out more about the group of Nine (main 9 Egyptian gods) click here to go on The British Museum website. You can also complete the gods and goddesses challenge, just click here.

Animals Including Humans

Reflect: What different types of diet do you know? What does carnivore, herbivore and omnivore mean? I will remind you again: Carnivore is a meat and fish-eating animal. Herbivore is an animal that feeds on plants (including plant products such as nuts, berries, grains and cereals). Omnivore is an animal that feeds on both plants and animals. Last week you found out that animals have slight adaptations to parts of their digestive system depending on their diet (different animals have different types of teeth)Challenge: Today, you will be researching the diets of different animals using the National Geographic website. Choose different animals and skim and scan the information to find out what it tells you about the animal’s diet. You should choose an omnivore, a carnivore and an herbivore and make notes in your book using the following headings: Animal Name, Type (mammal, reptile, etc.), Habitat (Where are they found?), Diet (carnivore, herbivore or omnivore), Diet facts (What do they eat?).
