Novi Public Library Newsletter-January 2016 New Book Collection! Join us on Wednesday, January 6th at 7pm in the Youth Department to help us unveil new books celebrating women's history! Members of the American Business Women's Association-Novi Oaks Charter Chapter (ABWA) generously donated these books to help expand the biography materials in the youth collection. Over $500 was received by the chapter and in recognition of the ABWA, a plate will be placed in each book acknowledging this organization. We hope you will join us! Rosetta Stone Software Discontinued Starting in February 2016 the Rosetta Stone software will be discontinued due to lack of technical support from the Rosetta Stone company. To meet your language learning needs the Novi Public Library highly recommends using Mango Languages. Thanks to the generous support of James and Vicky McLean, a fund has been established in honor of longtime Assistant Director of Public Services, Margi Karp-Opperer.  Margi gave 23 years of service to the Novi Public Library.  She created many new programs & services and built long-lasting friendships with our patrons.  To honor her, donations will be received to continue her legacy of exceptional programming for the youth, teens and adults of Novi.  To Make a donation in Margi's honor, please contact the Library Administration office at 248-869-7204, or see the donation form located here.

Credit Card Machine UpgradeBeginning January 2, 2016, we will be upgrading our credit card processor.  Throughout this process, we cannot accept PIN-required debit cards at any of our public desks or our self-check stations throughout the library.  At the Drive-Up Window, only cash or check will be accepted.  Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Interested In a Read For the New Year?  The Novi Historical Commission is selling, Villa Barr Tales, Trails, and Details by world renowned artist David Barr.  If you are interested in learning more about the artist, the home, grounds and sculptures of Villa Barr, than this book is for you!  This is a great commemorative piece of Novi History.  Books are selling for $20 and are available to purchase at the check-out desk in the main lobby.

New Teen Book Club! Lindsay Fricke, Information Services Librarian, partnered with Sue Johnson, President of the Friends of the Novi Library, in applying for Community Financial's Summer of Sharing grant.  The Library is happy to announce that the Friends Group was awarded $1,000 to be used towards the startup for a new teen book club!  The first discussion will take place on February 17 at 6pm and pizza will be served.  Visit novilibrary.org for more information.  Thank you to Community Financial for this grant and allowing the Library to offer this fantastic book club!
