Dona J. Stewart. 1996. Pesticide use, habits and health awareness among Egyptian farmers. Ambio 25 (6): 425-426.

Abstract: This paper presents the findings of a baseline survey of pesticide use and management among small farmers in Egypt. The survey investigates both general farming systems and pesticide use issues. This study identifies a gap between farmers’ awareness of potential health hazards from pesticides and the farmers’ pesticide-use habits. Fore example, while 80% of the farmers stated it was dangerous for humans to touch pesticides, only 7.7% of farmers reported using gloves.

Keywords: agricultural production in Egypt, pesticide knowledge-use attitudes, pesticide use practices, survey implications and research needs, farmers’ knowledge, attitudes and practices, small-scale farmers with farm size around 2 hectares.
