`My home` ( 6th grade, based on `Wider World 2`)

Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to talk about the things in the house;

to use a new set of the house vocabulary in oral and writing speech.

Subsidiary:

to develop pronunciation skills, listening and speaking skills;

to revise and practise Present Simple Tense;

to develop pupils` memory, logical thinking and to motivate pupils in learning

English.

Materials and resources: Wider World 2 , p.58, handouts, CDs

Procedure

I. The beginning of the lesson

1.Greeting

Good day, everyone! `m glad to see you. How are you getting on?

I hope you are doing well and you`ll be active, supportive and enthusiastic at the

lesson.

II. The main part

1. The aim.

T. Today we start to study a new topic. And let`s guess what the topic of

our lessons.

2. Warm up. Handouts 1 `Guessing field`

T. Students, you have to give right answers to my questions. For every

correct answer, I give you the letter. Your task is to collect all letters and

complete the word. This word is the topic of our lesson. ( Handout 1)

T. The topic of today`s lesson is ` My home`.

3. SB p.58 ex.1.Unusual room. Class Vote. ( Handout 2)

T. Look at the photos and answer the questions:

Which room would you most like to visit? and why?

Why don`t you like other ones?

3. SB p.58 ex.2 Listen and underline the things SS can see in the photos.

4. Group work. SB p.58 ex.3.

T. How many words can you add to Vocabulary in 2 minutes.

Possible answers:

Kitchen : microwave, washing machine, bin, dishwasher.

Bedroom: poster, computer, alarm clock, chest of drawers

Bathroom: soap, towel, toothbrush

Living room : bookcase, bookshelf, heater, TV, DVD player

Different rooms: carpet, clock, computer, light, painting, plant

5. Game `Sound Bingo` (Handout 4)

6. Moving break.

Chant

Cooker, cooker, fridge and chair

Shower and bed, shower and bed

Switch and ceiling, desk and mirror

Rug and sink, rug and sink

Curtains!

7. Group work. Game `Scissors, Paper, Stone`. ( My home)

Students play in groups of three. Teacher prepares three sets of 10 cards.

Scissors word cards : spell the word.

Paper word cards : give a definition.

Stone word cards: say a word which rhymes with it.

The winner is the one who has the most cards at the end of ten rounds.

8. Reading. SB p. 58 ex.4.

Complete the descriptions of the rooms in the photos with words from

Vocabulary.

`Sound Bingo`Each students chooses any ten words and circle them. When a student think they have heard and crossed out the ten words they circled, they call out `Bingo !`
