It is not necessary to quote a definition of skill but you MUST know the characteristics of a skilled performance and the difference between skill and ability.

It is also vital that you use the terms ‘skill’ and ‘ability’ accurately in any answer and not just in questions that ask you about them – THIS IS VITAL FOR ACHEIVING HIGHER GRADES!!!
Classifying Sports Skills
To understand the nature of a skill and to provide information to help plan training it is helpful to classify skills into different groups. Skills are classified using a continuum which is a link between the two extreme groups. Here will look at the following continua:
Open and Closed Externally Paced and Self Paced Gross and Fine Discrete and Serial and Continuous High and Low Simple and Complex
