Reading Corner: During our Reading block this week students are continuing to recognize short vowel sounds and words with “tch” and “dge”. Students will continue with activities in determining the main idea of a passage and supporting details, and using context clues to determine meanings of words.

Parent Reminders Week of September 26 - 30

Please continue have your child read each night silently and out loud to you in order to increase comprehension and fluency.

Friday – Ice-cream $1 EQTs begin next week (in October) and will

begin promptly in the morning. Please make sure your child is here on time. If they are late they will have to wait in a holding area until the time is up.

Math:

We are continuing our work with 1 and 2 step word problems, equal grouping, arrays through multiplication and division and begin reviewing for the EQT. Students will take the CFA 1.3 on Wednesday.

Math drills are at 5 minutes this week.

Social Studies

We will continue this week with map skills

ScienceThis week students will learn about magnets. A study guide will come home on Monday in order to prepare for the upcoming Science test. It is scheduled for Friday.

Spelling Words

No spelling this week or next. We are wrapping up the first quarter. Students need to spend time working on their AR goals. Students are allowed to bring home 2 library books each night to read.
