Weekly Tasks : Adverbs, Prepositions and ConjunctionsDuring this week we are going to review adverbs, prepositions and conjunctions.

This week I would like you to practise your use of the different grammar we have learned.

Day One : Adverbs : An adverb is used to describe how, what, when, where and why a

verb happens.

Adverbs can tell us HOW WHERE WHEN WHY something happens : They describe the way something happens.They often end in –ly but not always!

We can use adverbs in speech also :

Day Two : PrepositionsThe pets have escaped from the local pet shop! Look at the following

picture and describe where each of the animals are hiding.

Prepositions are words / phrases used to describe a place, time or cause.Now try the activity again using some of these prepositions :

Using what you know about prepositions and the preposition bank you have, can you complete these activities?

Day Three – ConjunctionsConjunctions can be used to join ideas together in a sentence. In longer sentences there will be a main clause (main idea) and a subordinating clause (a second / extra idea). To link these together we have to use a conjunction

Play the silly sentences game using this table below. Make sentences which are silly but make sense!

Use the conjunctions in the word bank below to help you. Try to use as many different conjunctions as you can. Make sure the sentence makes sense.

Day Five – Writing TaskUsing the picture and the prompts, could you write about the picture using adverbs, prepositions and conjunctions we have learned about. When you have completed your writing, identify your work using the colours here : adverbs, preposition and

conjunctions.
