CLASS XI

SESSION 2017-18

WINTER BREAK HOLIDAY HOMEWORK

The Holiday Homework is given as per the calibre of the learner. The learners are broadly divided into three categories viz., Bright Learners, Average Learners and Late Bloomers. However, the same is not told to the learners, so that, they do not develop any inferiority or superiority complex. Keeping in mind their formative age, the holiday homework is not presented to them as meant for different categories of students having different learning abilities and language skills but as easy, difficult and very difficult.

The easy holiday homework (Reading and Listening Skill) is open to all the learners with special emphasis to the late bloomers which is done in a covert way without mentioning any name. This is an individual task requiring no cooperation among the learners and therefore it is meant particularly for the Late Bloomers. Further, it aims at developing the primary language skill of listening and therefore the target group is that of the late bloomers.

The difficult holiday homework (Writing Skill) is also open to all the learners. In doing it the learners can help each other. The purpose behind it is peer group learning in which the Late Bloomer is helped in completing the task by the Average and the Bright Learner. This task requires a little creativity and that is as per a set pattern or format which has been already discussed in the class. So, this task is all about guided creativity and therefore, the target group is the Average Learner, who is creative but who is not blessed with the innovative mind of a genius. This will also give them a clear idea about future career prospects and the qualification required to get their dream job.

The scope of creativity is limited in the second task and as such the task is not very challenging for the Bright Learners and for them there is task three. This task involves reading of the textual lessons and understanding the lines of the textbook and then using technology to take part in a task which is arranged like an online quiz competition. This task will provide ample stimulation to the minds of the Bright Learners because it involves knowledge, understanding, application and skill. Holiday Homework Number Three is also open to all the learners in order to provide an opportunity to the Late Bloomers and the Average Learners to make an effort and to climb the ladder of success and to break away from the limitations of a pre-conceived learning ability based on the notions of performance in the pen and paper examination.

Holiday Homework Number Four is meant to be completed by all the students because it is about revising the syllabus taught in the class and meant for 3rd Periodic Test.
