Wednesday 20th May- Thursday 21st May
We are learning to design a poster advertising the Titanic.
All aboard the Titanic!
The famous RMS Titanic set sail on 10th April 1912 on its maiden
voyage from Southampton to New York.
We do now know, of course, that it sadly hit an iceberg and sunk on
April 15th, 1912.
Today and tomorrow, your job is to design a poster advertising the Titanic to go with
your ticket!
At the time of the Titanic’s voyage in the early 1900s, the transatlantic cruise ship trade was
very competitive and worth lots of money. The tickets and posters would have to have been
very impressive to encourage passengers onto the Titanic rather than another ship!
An effective advertisement poster needs to persuade the readerto buy the product…
• Focus on the positive
• Use bright colours and images to
catch your attention
• Use a mix of facts and persuasive
and exaggerated language.
Use catchy slogans and sayings
