Digital Transformation - Problem Statement
• Supporting and Maintaining Legacy disparate ERP systems
• Multi-year time and materials contracts locking you in to working with 1 vendor
• Difficult to budget
• Enhancements take days or weeks to complete
• New functionality is released infrequently
• Patching and upgrades take teams months to regression test
• IT Teams containing numerous DBAs
• High concentration on custom integrations

Digital Transformation – Key Factors
• Digital transformation is truly dependent on a partnership between the IT Organization and the Business Organization
• IT should no longer be just another office providing services to support infrastructure and applications
• The role of IT must shift from a centralized support function of the past to enabling the business to focus on strategy and core competencies while being responsible for helping drive innovation
• Businesses shouldn’t just focus on the steps of going paperless, moving to the cloud and leveraging web apps. They must focus on a holistic digital transformation approach that encompasses all of these items while aligning on core strategies

Oracle Cloud Transformation
The purpose of formulating a Cloud Transformation Strategy is to develop the overarching approach for how an organization successfully transitions from its current state to the desired future state. A comprehensive Cloud Transformation Assessment will evaluate your organization’s unique requirements for transformational activities across the following work streams:

Oracle Cloud Transformation
The Cloud Transformation Strategy is an interconnected grouping of
work steams that clarify:
What needs to be done, Why it needs to be done,
Who will do it, When it will be done,
…and the expected outcome

Digital Transformation - Executive Summary
AMAG realized the evolution of its cloud strategy must shift from simply moving to a more digital structure, to a full Oracle Cloud transformation.
The business needed to realign its vision from addressing isolated needs to enabling a next generation platform across Finance, Procurement and SCM. This would remove the burden of maintenance on their infrastructure and applications and allow them to focus on pursuing strategic goals.
We will highlight the keys to the successful partnership between KBACE and AMAG Pharma and focus on a journey that grew from initial strategy, to implementation, to maintaining optimized systems and processes in an evolving business environment.
Why Shift?

Benefits, Lessons Learned and Next Steps
© 2017 Cognizant 30
Digital Transformation – Key Success Factors
• Organization buy in and top down strategy driven by the management team
• Cohesive partnership and proactive work efforts to resolve issues
• Two in a box project management methodology
• AMAG’s willingness to shift to a leading practices model across their organization driven by the cloud
• Training plan adopted and initiated early in the project and throughout the implementation, including train the trainer, Catalyst and Guided Learning
© 2017 Cognizant 31
Digital Transformation - Solution Benefits
• With the move to Oracle Cloud, AMAG has realized vastly improved Financial processes and efficiencies in reporting
• They have replaced previously paper riddled Financial processes with a highly automated and fully integrated suite of Oracle Cloud Applications
• Allows them to now focus on more strategic ERP and future Technology initiatives
• AMAG’s reporting capabilities and visibility into critical data and metrics has increased substantially with the Oracle Cloud Reporting and Analytics tools.
• The Oracle ERP Cloud solution provides a scalable platform that aligns with AMAG’s goals of organic growth as well as growth through acquisitions and the implementation is a critical step in their Digital Transformation
© 2017 Cognizant 32
Digital Transformation - Lessons Learned
• Hands On the System Early and Often: It is critical to get not only the subject matter experts, but also the end users comfortable and familiar with the applications as early as possible in the project. The Catalyst tool that AMAG leveraged enabled them to gain familiarity from day 1 with the applications. There is a significant learning curve and the more time spent with the applications, the easier it is to understand the design decisions that are being made.
• Address Reporting Early in the Project: Reporting is one of the key takeaways and one of the huge advantages of the move to the cloud. Addressing reporting needs early allows for not only a proper COA design, but also prepares the team to have the day 1 reports necessary for business.
• Approval Hierarchies Need to be Structured to Allow for Growth and Changes: Flexibility in approval hierarchies is critical to allow ease of changes as your organization changes.
© 2017 Cognizant 33
Digital Transformation – Next Steps
• Continue the excellent partnership between AMAG and KBACE with managed services support for the AMAG applications footprint
• New implementation of additional applications starting with Supplier Portal and investigating the order to cash cycle
• Potentially integrate and implement additional AMAG entities including CBR into the Oracle Cloud solution
• Identify other opportunities to optimize AMAG’s financial operations and assist with their digital transformation across their IT and Financial organizations
