top Tip“Every parent knows the enthusiasm in which children present their latest artistic creation. Give them their own (restricted) wall space to enable them to choose which picture is their favourite to display, rather than an ever-expanding sea of home-made art to rival Kelvingrove.” Pauline, 37, North Glasgow

Louise Reid FROM St Ninian's Primary TELLS US ABOUT HER CHOIR...
Where have you performed?
At school concerts and Church services.
We sang a song from the four countries
in the UK and at the school’s street
party to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.
Outside of school, we take part in
lots of community events including;
the Christmas Lights switch on in
Queen St Station and a Day Centre
for elderly people where we entertained
the senior citizens!
What tips can you give people who want to get into sinGing, even if they are nervous?Find a choir or group to join in your school or in the local community. Don’t be afraid to give it a go, even if you don’t have a lot of confidence. Everyone has a voice so just enjoy using it!
What IS the choir's fave song to perform?Probably the music that we are currently rehearsing at any time. Recently we’ve been learning songs from “Bugsy Malone” but their current favourite is “Skyfall”.
What are your proudest
achievements?
When I see children who don’t have
a lot of confidence in class blossom
when they sing. I was also very proud
when we sang Panis Angelicus in two
parts last Christmas. The choir are
so enthusiastic and determined
to entertain others.
How DID THE choir starT?
I started the choir in 2009. I’ve always
loved singing and been part of choirs.
I wanted children to have the chance
to experience the joy that comes with
singing in a choir.

It's an exciting time for our
city and our young people
now that Glasgow has been
shortlisted for the final stage
of the competition to host the
Youth Olympic Games in 2018.
To Back Our Bid and be in with the chance to win a £50 Visa gift card just visit www.glasgow2018.com to register your support.
Glasgow’s bid will help inspire a generation and we need your support to realise that dream. The host city decision will be made by the International Olympic Committee in July 2013 and with the support of the people of Glasgow we can try to make our dream a reality.
Your support is very important in bringing us a step closer to winning the bid for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games. Together we can look forward to creating exciting and engaging opportunities for young people in Glasgow, inspiring them to be the best that they can be and to work hard to become champions in their own lives.
Glasgow is ready to host these games. We already have the world-class facilities and transport systems in place for the Commonwealth Games in 2014. Now let’s use this infrastructure to create real opportunities for young people in our city! Bringing an event such as the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) to Glasgow in 2018 would offer fantastic opportunities.
The YOG is not only a sporting event that will help inspire our future Olympians. It is also supported by a Culture and Education Programme that will ensure Glasgow’s legacy as a world-class sporting and cultural destination, creating long-term benefits for Glasgow and Scotland.
