Name: ___________________________________________________________ Class period: ______ “Raisin in the Sun” One Pager Assignment: For this assignment, you will produce a one-pager based on A Raisin in the Sun. A one-pager is a single-page response to the play. It is a way to communicate your understanding of the material in a unique way. A one-pager allows you to be creative and experimental. It gives you the opportunity to respond to your reading imaginatively and honestly. Directions: Include all of the following activities on your one-pager: 1. Make sure the title of the play (along with the author) is prominently displayed. 2. Make a border with meaningful quotes from the play (three quotes minimum). Make sure you use quotes from the original text and provide the act, scene, and character who said the quote. 3. Create three images that provide a “visual focus” on your one-pager. Your pictures should represent what you have visually in mind about the reading. These images could be a symbolic or literal representation of the theme or main idea of your reading. 4. Choose a character and list at least three characteristics about him or her from what you have read. Find a creative way to do this: in a circle around the character’s name, surrounding an image you choose to reflect that character, etc. 5. A personal statement about what you have read. What did the reading mean to you? What is your opinion, final thought, big question, or personal connection? Be sure to explain your response. (4-5 sentences) 6. A theme statement: What is the theme of the reading? What was Hansberry trying to tell us? How do you know? (4-5 sentences) Things to Remember: All work must be done on one side of the page except for your name and block (those should be on the back). Be creative! Make your one-pager interesting to look at. Fully in color – if you use pencil to outline, make sure you go over it with marker or pen. No white space! If you have room, repeat one of the steps above. One Pager Rubric Colorful border with at least three meaningful quotes with character, act, and scene ____/15 points Three images that symbolically or literally represent the text ____/15 points
