Congratulations to all of our athletes who competed and did very well - it is a major achievement to even make a regional carnival - AND an even greater achievement to make the State Carnival. Huge congratulations to Alannah Penfold who is off to State for discus. Alannah came 3rd at the Regional Carnival with a throw of 19.15. It’s worth noting that Alannah threw 22.35 at the Zone Carnival and had she thrown that at the Regional she would have won the event by nearly two metres. The State Carnival is at Homebush Bay in Sydney on 28th and 29th October. (Week 2, Term 4) Good luck, Alannah!! Duri Debating Team Yesterday our debating team, Sophie Cooper, Emily Trewern, Alannah Penfold and team adviser Shelby Botfield-Mohr won the debate against Werris Creek. Our team performed very well with a difficult topic. Congratulations girls. Our next debate is next term and the topic is “That living in the country is better than living in the city”. School Website Don’t forget to have a look at our school website - http://www.duri-p.schools.nsw.edu.au/ sws/view/home.node On the Website you can access today’s newsletter (in full colour) as well as previous news- letters. We have also put a photo gallery of the Keepit excursion on the website so have a look! Duri Shop The Duri Shop has provided a service to our students for many, many, years where the students can order their lunch on Mondays and they are delivered to the school. The shop doesn’t make very much money from the lunches but continue to provide the service. I am concerned about the number of times Keith brings lunches to students who are away from school and he has to take the lunch back to the shop. Please contact the shop (67680244) if your child has a lunch order but will be away from school for whatever reason.

Holidays

Have a great break over the holidays. Hopefully when we come back next term we will see some action with our new library. The builders are coming in over the holidays to begin organising the site. Remember next term is only nine weeks. - Kerry Kurtz

Bective Small Schools Junior Girls relay team

Jacinta Cooper, Hope Taylor, Sarah Collison and Grace Ellis (Timbumburi PS) ran in the

Junior Girls relay on Monday after the carnival was postponed from the Tuesday before.

The girls came 2nd in their heat and made it to the final with a time of 1.07.04. We didn’t

realise they were in the final so it was rushed but I think they came 7th out of 10 in the final

and in a time of 1.08.47. Their time going into the Regionals was 1.15.15 so they made a

huge improvement. - Janet Collison A big thank you to Janet Collison for giving up her time to come to Duri to train the team in the lead up to the Regional Carnival. Her help was very much appreciated.
