    Week 5 October 21-25, 2013Psalm 42:1-11

Monday: ReadPsalm 42:1-2 Do you remember a time when you were so thirsty, that the thirst, consumed all of

your thoughts? How did you feel after that thirst was quenched? How did you feelwhen you were thirsty? Does this describe your thirst for God? Do you long for thetime that you can spend with him?

object of their hope is money or security. Is that a struggle for you? Is God worthy

and reliable in which to place your hope? Why is it so hard to do? The psalmist knew that God was completely reliable. He knew that he could

unashamedly put his hope in him, because of the assurance, that he would yetpraise him. Sometimes our situations are so overwhelming that we find it difficult topraise God. But, we can have confidence that if our hope is in him, that one day, wewill again praise him.

Its common to think that life should be smooth and easy, if a person is walking withthe Lord. But Job reminds us in 2:10 of what our attitude should be. Trials are partof the faith journey. Read James 1:2-12. Make a list of observations about trials.

Friday: ReadPsalm 42:1-11, Romans 8:28-37, Psalm 37:25 In verse 9, the psalmist feels abandoned by God. Do you ever feel that God has
