Week 8 Term 1 2018
SAFETY TEAMWORK ACHIEVEMENT RESPECT
On Thursday, 15th March, Windsor High School competed in Touch
Football at the Macquarie Zone Gala Day. Both the boys and girls teams
represented the school with pride and played with great team spirit, despite
the harsh weather conditions on the day. Although we didn’t have much luck
with winning against some tough and competitive opponents, our students
never gave up. The boys in particular were so impressive that a member of
the public rang the school to tell us their sportsmanship was outstanding-
the best of all the schools who attended.

A huge thank you to Mrs Beckett for her significant assistance in coaching both teams on the day. The Touch
Football Thursday Interest Group will continue to run and will soon transition into an Oz Tag interest group in
preparation for the Macquarie Zone Gala Day later in the year.
National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence was recognised at Windsor High School with Years 7 and 8 participating in activities to acknowledge the day. At lunchtime, the whole school joined in the main quad to participate in group activities such as skipping, dancing, handball, orange hair spraying and much much more!
Thank you to Mrs Khalid, Ms Oppy and their team of students for their efforts in organizing this day.

Five students from Windsor High School attended a Western Sydney University conference at the Parramatta South Campus to learn the opportunities of a higher education. The students were part of the university’s Fast Forward program, which brought together more than 600 stu-dents from Sydney schools in their annual Year 12 Conference. The conference was based around the theme of ‘Beyond Year 12’— addressing the challenges school leavers face, with the aim of enhancing the student’s preparedness for life after high school.
Congratulations to Renee who competed at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships and took out the sil-

Students studying the Year 7 TAS Textiles course have been creative as they develop their sewing skills. Their project is to design and make a mixed up native Australian animal . Skye created an animal whose legs are snake heads, limbs are squid tentacles, has the body of a wombat, and the head of a cockatoo- Well done
Skye!
.
Miss Talidu's 'Artist of the Week' award goes to two Year 7 students, Ryder and Landen. Ryder is being award-ed for the way he consistently shows respect in the classroom, and Landen is being awarded for his teamwork.
Both boys are displaying the school's core values. Well done!

Camden Show was the last show to fine tune the Show Team's handling skills. We had some great competition which meant winning champion ribbons was a challenge. Overall we still managed to get some of the big ones such as Reserve Best Udder, Reserve Junior Champion, Reserve Kid Champion, Best of Breed Saanen, Melaan and Australian Brown. We also were awarded Most Successful exhibitor! Congratulations to Ebony,
Jess, Anastasia, Sarah, John and Harley and our goats were very relaxed!!
Year 7 library lessons this week will see our students have a go at reading books back to front. It is trickier than
you think. It messes with everything you have learnt about reading.
Students and parents are reminded that if a student is sick they must report to sick bay. It is then the school’s responsibility to contact a parent/caregiver. The reason that this protocol is in place is to ensure, while we are waiting for the arrival of the parent/caregiver, that we can care for, and monitor the student and respond appro-priately. If students contact parents directly to ask to be picked up, the student is not being cared for. Regards
Jennifer Hawken
Principal.
