This week we have received the news that next term we will be able to resume many of the activities for school that have been put on hold due to COVID-19. The activities include: Assembly and Chapel - parents will need to register on attendance. Volunteers may work in the classrooms provided they have signed in at the front office. Excursions may begin again Sport - After School Sport at Prescott, SACSA Sport and Sports Days. (No out of school competitions yet). Parents can enter school grounds - though must follow social distancing rules. Parents to enter the classrooms only for volunteer work and must have signed in at front office. Choirs and Performing Arts may begin. School Formal and Graduation for Year 12 students may go ahead. Graduation for Year 6 students will go ahead. Awards Nights are being reviewed. As a school our limit on the number of adults we can have in the church is 135 so this will impact on any events that we plan. We look forward to many events beginning again! I would like take this opportunity to say farewell to some of our staff who will be leaving at the end of the term. Mrs Julie Miles is retiring after 21 years of working as an SSO at Prescott Southern. She has been here since 1999 and has been part of the community as we have transitioned to secondary school. Thank you Julie for the many years of service...you will be missed! Mrs Pauline Ellis will be moving back to Western Australia at the end of the term. We have appreciated the contribution she has made to the school and especially her support of the senior students in helping them meet their deadlines. Thank you Pauline and we wish you much happiness as you return to be with your family. Miss Dayna Petrie will be moving to Queensland at the end of the term to take up a position at a school in Ipswich. We wish Dayna all the best as she relocates. Thank you Dayna for your work with the Year 1 students at Prescott over the past couple of years. We wish you God's blessing in your new venture. It is with a great sense of sadness that I share with you the passing of one of our much loved students, Imogen Blenkinsop. Imogen lost her battle with cancer on Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers are with Adrian and Karen and her brother Micah at this time. Our Year 7 students, who Imogen has spent time with over the past couple of years, have many memories of the wonderful friend and caring person that she was. I n Closing Life is continually changing and as individuals the adjustments at times seem hard to manage. However, it is so important that no matter what is happening in your world, you know you can rely on God to walk the journey with you. As we as a community grieve the loss of Imogen, and as we have staff relocate or retire, may we know that God is an ever present friend and companion in our lives. This term in Visual Arts we have been using different mediums to create artworks. Last week we learnt about the visual effect ofcharcoal and then we used our knowledge of lines and shading to create our own artworks. For most students, this was the firsttime they had used charcoal and they were all very excited.

This term in Design and Technology, Classroom 6 have learned about various types of bridges and the features that make eachbridge distinct. In order to see the different types of bridges in action, we researched each type of bridge from around the world. Our favourite was the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, closely followed by the Sydney Harbour bridge. For our group project we designed and built bridges from recycled materials brought from home. We worked well to create alltypes of bridges including arch bridges, beam bridges, truss arch bridges and suspension bridges.

This term classroom 8 students have been learning about bridge systems. They learnt toidentify various types of bridges, including beam, arch and suspension. The students worked hard on designing their own bridge, choosing one of these types. In theirplanning, they worked out what materials would work best for its construction. They workedon their own, or in a small group to construct their chosen bridge and the end products lookedgreat. Well done Year 4’s on being so creative and motivated to complete your projects!
