MY CHOSEN THEME IS: Dreams
What objects or props will you need to use?Everyday objects such a utensils, tins and cups, plates and remotes; I will also need to photograph animals such as dogs, fish or birds. I will also use my friend to pose and the general public may also be included in my photographs.
Where will you get these from (teacher/ home?) and where you will stage your work?At home and possibly in countryside. I want to do three different photo shoots, one which includes shots in the town centre because town centres will include detail of everyday situations and I can use people then later manipulate them and the backgrounds, making them surreal and out of their usual proportion. I will then do another photo shoot at home using everyday object such as food tins, cups, utensils and remotes. I will then take photos in the countryside, which will provide me with backgrounds and features. All the photographs I take will be merged together to create my final pieces.
What background's will you need?Countryside landscapes, landscapes that you see everyday, however I will pull them out of proportion and change them to make them look slightly surreal, this will make people think more about my photographs. I want to use countryside backgrounds as they relate to the reality of my life, I see the countryside everyday as it is where I live.
What equipment will you need? A camera and a computer with Adobe Photoshop.
How will you will stage/arrange your work (how will you show COMPOSITION, TECHNIQUE, VISUAL QUALITIES, DEVICE, CONCEPT & MOOD?I will use Adobe Photoshop to manipulate my photographs, I will arrange my photographs to produce a layered image. I will position certain objects in strange ways, I will clone, blend, rotate, flip, skew, enlarge and slight distort my photographs to make them surreal and not in the correct proportion. I want to create extraordinary situation and use objects to change the meaning. For example you would not find a tin of beans on the city floor. The way Sandy Skoglund clones and uses many of the same object is really interesting I want to include this in my work, I want to also include the way David uses objects but not in correct proportion and I will also Erwitts work to inspire me to blend and clone one image to another, making a new surreal image.

ARTIST RECREATIONAs part of my development for my series of final photographs I decided to look more my
chosen artists that really inspired me the most.
I was really inspired by the use of photo manipulation and editing of Erwitts’ work. I noticed that he keeps to a simple tone of colours which includes greys, black and whites. His work is surreal and very interesting, he arranges the objects into a strange manner so they almost look like they were originally there. He is very famous for his black and white candid shots of absurd situations and as part of my initial photographs I would like to experiment with black and white contrasts and trying to create a surreal situation.

How will you will stage/arrange your work (how will you show COMPOSITION,I will explore unusual compositions that are strange for the eye to comprehend, this will make my photos more surreal. An example of this is changing the camera angle and vantage point to be more unusual.TECHNIQUE, I will use Adobe Photoshop to manipulate my photographs, I will arrange my photographs to produce a layered image. I will position certain objects in strange ways, I will clone, blend, rotate, flip, skew, enlarge and slight distort my photographs to make them surreal and not in the correct proportion. VISUAL QUALITIES, In my photos I will concentrate on colour as my main visual element. This and lighting will help me to create the surreal mood.DEVICE, Important devices in my work are layering, metaphor (where one thing stands for another) and change of scale.CONCEPT & MOOD?. I want to create extraordinary situation and use objects to change the meaning. For example you would not find a tin of beans on the city floor. David LaChappels’ work
is my absolute favourite, the brightness and the colours used are energetic, they create a friendly and positive mood. His work is most popular for his surreal, unique, sexualized, and often humorous style, which creates a varied amount of meanings for different people. The exaggeration that is represented is so realistic, the use of photo manipulation is very extreme and I like the way all the photos are positioned and the way he keeps the same boldness of colours throughout all his work.
