1 F L U I D S A N D L E A K SCheck all fluid levels and look for signs ofleaks. Check the engine, transmission,transfer case, differentials, axle seals andpinion seals. Found a leak? Trace it downand have the part serviced. A leaking sealcan quickly end a ride when a bearing failsor a moving part seizes up.

2 W H E E L S A N D T I R E SLook for deep cuts, bent rim edges anddebris between the rim and tire. Check theinside wheel lips as well. If you find stuckdebris, dismount the tires. Then clean,remounted and balance. This easy task cansave you from a flat tire out on the trail.

3 D R I V E S H A F T S & U J O I N T SCheck your driveshaft for excessive play orleaking seals at the U Joints. U joints areinexpensive to replace when they are wornbut become expensive when they fail anddamage the drive shaft yokes. Grease anyfittings on the drive shaft yoke or U Joints.

4 S U S P E N S I O NCheck and tighten mounting points, skidplate bolts, shock bolts and any other lowhanging fasteners. Fasteners can come looseover time and can be damaged off road. Aloose bolt on the trail or street can create avery dangerous situation!

5 B A T T E R Y A N D C A B L E SCheck battery and battery cables for looseconnections and corrosion. Winches createdrain & heat at the cables. These contributeto loose clamps and corrosion but can beavoided with a bit of quick maintenance.

T O O L SCheck the condition of and inventory thetools you carry. Now is the time to replacethe broken screw driver or retrieve themissing wrench you loaned to a fellow trailrider.

S P A R E P A R T SCheck and inventory the recommendedspare parts for your ride. Don't forget allthe fluids you should carry for your ride.Replace anything missing. Winter can alsobe the best time to find bargains on parts.

6 B R A K E SCheck brakes for wear. Dirt, water and mudwear out brakes. Oversize tires also requiremore braking so brakes wear faster than astreet driven vehicle. It’s an easy check andcould save you from a dangerous incident.Check the emergency brake and linkage too!

7 R E C O V E R Y G E A RLook for abrasions on straps and ropes. Ifthey are worn, replace them. Clean yourstraps. Lubricate your d-rings. These areitems you may need in a hurry during an offroad recovery. A damaged, seized or brokenitem could spell disaster during a recovery.
