Two weeks ago at our Club meeting, in discussion groups, we asked what people look for in Rotary. Amongst its responses, each group had comments like:

· To make new friends · Friendship · Enjoyment · Social contact · Fellowship · Meet new people

Tonight’s meeting should bring out all of those things. It is Vocational month and we will be seeing the vocation of Zillis Hardiman from the Rotary Club of Greensborough. Zillis is the Manager of the Greensborough Cake Decorating Shop. She will be talking to us about her vocation and then we have a fun activity planned. Not only will members have the opportunity to participate in this, we also have the benefit of the Greensborough Club joining us, giving us the chance to get to know their members on an informal basis.

Sometimes, we are so busy focusing on the business of

Rotary, we do overlook this very important factor. Twenty four Greensborough members and family will be joining us, so come along for a night of fellowship and fun!

Minutes of the RCDC Meeting "Pride of Workmanship Night" President Alan opened the meeting, Roger Knight started off with Grace and Greg Adams did the toast. President Alan asked that the guests on the tables be introduced, Arthur started off, then Rod McK, Clyde and Jackie, 38 people in total. Apologies were Phil C, Stephen, Tina, David, John & Eileen & Phil M. President Alan, John & Eileen went to RC Kinglake Ranges meeting on the 12/10/11 to present a cheque from RC Diamond Creek for their Polio Plus Project. Rob Lloyd spoke about the FSE (Friendship Exchange) from Sweden. Mentioned that the RC's of Coburg, Diamond Creek and Yea/Albury would be showing them around. Rod McK decided to discuss the Town Fair Meeting at a later date. President Alan gave a short explanation to the non-rotarians what the Town Fair was all about. He also asked for numbers for the Cup Day fun fest. Announced the Board Meeting for the 24th October. Stated that The Diamond Valley Rotaract Club had sent a note of thanks for our support for their Conference.

There were no fines, however a bowl was on the table for Rotary Foundation donations instead. Raffle was a bottle of wine and Brian Bowen got the prize. The raffle total was $138.00. Next week the 24/10/11 is a combined meeting with RC of Greensborough for an evening of cake decorating. Ern will send out email and their will be a prize for the best apron. President Alan introduced Jackie Hodge to start the "Pride of Workmanship" proceedings. Keynote Speaker Ken Crompton was very well received and he spoke very highly about good vocational in the community, the highest level of achievement and well done to the Rotary Club and all the recipients. The Bio's of the Keynote Speaker Ken Crompton and

the recipients, Lynette Hind, Jon Baly, Kassie Briggs, Ainsley Wassell and Mark Vassallo are very well described in the Bulletin. Jackie handed back to President Alan and he thanked her for organizing the night, Alan also thanked Ern for getting the room all decked out with the regalia and Greg for the bulletin and its contents. Next meeting - Cup Cake Challenge with RC Greensborough. Rod McKenzie was very resplendent with his tweety bird tie - pity their was no fine session (One for you Rob). Cheers Pat.
