All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy! Just education is not enough, children must have sunshine, freedom and playtime. The most awaited day of the year for Grade F, G,

H, G and F was the Field Trip to Dahl Al Hamam Park on th February, . The students had a day filled with enjoyment and fun with their fellow mates and teachers. The most enjoyable time was in the play area with the swings, merry go around and see saw. After a tiring and fun packed morning, students headed for lunch where they relished different food items. The group photograph time motivated students to make funny faces for the click. All the students expressed their desire to revisit the place again. PICK AND SPEAK The art of public speaking has always been a struggle for many around the world as many skills are required when it comes to giving a speech in front of an audience. We at DMIS start young and prove to the world that oration is not only a man s hold but can also be a great challenge for the little ones. An amazing opportunity to build a child s self- confidence was initiated by the KG team in setting a platform for the children to speak in the Pick and Speak Ac-tivity on Feb th . The children of KG are constantly given guidance and opportu-nities to enhance their speaking skills. This

week, the little language explorers of KG , were given various objects to speak about, upon their choice. The students were en-couraged and motivated to identify charac-teristics of the objects they chose and con-struct sentences to describe the object. This activity not only helped the kids to enhance their word building skills but also helped in fostering a positive attitude among the stu-dents towards speaking. It helped them to think critically and differently. They had great fun in listening to and cheering their peers. Cheers to the Little Orators!

As the weather outside had been very friendly throughout the last week, the little wonderers of KG enjoyed a Field Trip to the Dhal Al Hammam park from Feb th to Feb nd . This park, which is known as one of the best family parks in Doha, kept the children busy moving around and playing all day. The chil-dren enjoyed a bus ride to the park and not

to mention had a picnic under the shady trees, seated on the green grass. It was in-deed a day to treasure, as the children got a good opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. The field trip was scheduled across the week to give all classes of KG a chance to go on turns. The children returned with much hope, for they simply wanted to go back to the park the next day.

Play is essential to the healthy development of children; play helps them discover and explore, solve problems, test new ideas and experience friendship and to build cooperation and teamwork. These characteristics help mould good leaders and empowering human beings. This week the KG teachers organized a Treasure Hunt which was carried out as a group activity on Feb th . This activity was held in the KG Activity Hall where the quest was to find “Treasures”. The kids were asked to find objects hidden by their teachers. The little scavengers worked together to collect as many treasures as possible. All the kids participated enthusiastically in their groups.

Elimination of distracters purposely

Do not respond to social media, phone calls or mes-

sages during study hours. The phone should be

turned off or put it in silent mode. Make it a habit!

Ensure getting enough sleep

A healthy person should have at least 6-7 hours’ sleep for proper functioning of the body and keep-ing homeostasis and biorhythm.

Time management

The actual time available for studies should be cal-culated separately from preparation/academic sup-port-work time viz., cleaning and arranging table, food time, shopping etc. Plan and utilize time properly.

Prioritise needs and work

Students should give due priority to do most essen-tial tasks rather than watching a game or movie or spending time with social media. Each minute counts when exams are near to you!

Take breaks appropriately

Depending on the person and habits, each one should work optimum (not maximum)

with proper rest, relaxation and short breaks in between studies. Or else, the mind

may not be harmonious to send all information from sensory register to short term

memory. This leads to forgetting of learned materials during exam time.
