• A-Level predicted grades for Upper Sixth on the Parent Portal: A-level predicted grades for Upper Sixth will be published to the Parent Portal on Wednesday 13 September at 4.10pm. Please contact [email protected] if you have any queries.

• Music clubs and activities: These will start on Monday 11 September and girls who are already members of a group should go along as usual. Auditions for new members will also be taking place next week and girls will be notified of these. For regular updates, follow the Music Department on Twitter @shskmusic.

• Young Enterprise: Meetings for the Lower Sixth Joint Group, with Abingdon School, will be held on Mondays at 4.15pm in D21 at St Helen and St Katharine. For the Year 10 B group, meetings will take place on Thursdays in D21 at 4.10pm. Group 10 A meetings are to be confirmed. Both meetings will start week commencing Monday 11 September. All meetings will finish before 5.00pm in time to catch school buses. A letter regarding Young Enterprise will be sent out shortly.

• Joint Choral Society(JCS): The JCS is a choir run jointly with Abingdon School which is open to students in Year 9 and above, staff and parents. This year, the concert will take place at Abingdon School on Sunday 19 November and will feature choral works by Mozart and John Rutter. Rehearsals for girls and boys are held at St Helen and St Katharine in the Chapel on Tuesdays after school, 4.15-5.00pm). Parents are invited to sing with the chorus; should you wish to be involved, there are five adult rehearsals which take place on Wednesdays from 7.00-8.30pm in the Charles Maude Room, Abingdon School. Vocal scores will be issued at the first rehearsal on Wednesday 13 September.

• The Second Hand Uniform Shop: The shop is open every Monday between 8.00-9.00am. You can find us in the YPH Foyer. We also have an extra lunch time sale on Wednesday 13 September, 12.15-1.15pm. If you have any surplus uniform at home please do drop it off at Reception. All items need to be labelled individually, unless you are donating the proceeds to the school. Thank you.

• Women in Leadership: A professional networking event for mums: On Friday 22 September we are delighted to be hosting a professional networking event at the Oxford Union (6.00-8.30pm). The guest speaker for the event is Dame Helen Fraser, former Managing Director of Penguin Books and CEO of the Girls’ Day School Trust. We are pleased to be able to extend an invitation to this event to both alumnae and to current St Helen’s mothers and any female colleagues. If you would like to attend this free event, then please apply here. It should be an excellent evening – note that numbers are restricted and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please apply by 4.00pm on Friday 15 September.

• Joint Prayer Meeting: The meeting will be held on Thursday 12 October at 7.45pm, Sports Centre Hospitality Suite, Abingdon School. All parents and staff welcome.

• WholeSchoolEucharistandconfirmation: At the beginning and end of the year, as well as on St Kate’s day and Ash Wednesday the whole school takes part in a Eucharist service. This is an opportunity for the school community to come together as part of the worldwide church to celebrate and give thanks for all that is good. All members of the School are welcome to receive a blessing prayer during Communion. In Lent term, there are confirmation classes for anyone who would like to explore the Christian faith with a view to becoming baptised or confirmed. • Duke of Edingbugh’s Award: There will be a D of E certificate presentation evening on Tuesday 7 November at 7.30pm.

• Dance lessons: If anyone is interested in attending dance lessons please contact the dance teacher, Laura Addison, either on [email protected] or 07913 148332. Lessons are available at lunchtime on Mondays (Grade 4), Tuesdays (Grade 2), Wednesdays (Grade 3 and 7) and Fridays (Grade 5 and Grade 4). For times, fees and more information, please contact Laura. All les-sons will take place in the Dance Studio at St Helen and St Katharine.

• Road Close of Stert Street, Abingdon from Monday 18 to Friday 22 September: Traffic in Abingdon will be affected by this road closure. The road south out of Abingdon to Culham will effectively not be accessible to south bound traffic. The diversion is to turn south from Ock Street along the road to Drayton and then east through Sutton Courtenay. Maps supplied by Oxfordshire County Council.

• Lax Rulz: A fundraising event for the Senior Lacrosse tour and the school charity will take place on Friday 22 September, starting at 6.00pm in the Science Atrium. The evening will be hosted by the PE department and members of the Senior Lacrosse Squad and will include a basic information and rules presentation; social time to chat to other parents and players about their experiences; and an opportunity to buy tickets for Milly Moo Cow Mahem! Tickets cost £8. To register your interest, please complete the electronic response form.
