During these difficult times there is one thing we know for certain, there will be tough decisions we all

have to make. Some that affect not only ourselves, but our loved ones as well.

The State has issued a Stay at Home order to slow the spread of COVID-19. According to the State,

residents should stay home and only travel when necessary. This means traveling only when required

for employment, medical appointments, to shop for supplies, and to recreate close to home. The

important question is how to travel safely and minimize the chances of exposure to COVID-19.

In Plumas County we have had 32 positive cases. During the contact tracing investigation it is believed

16 of the 32 cases are related to travel, whether a resident traveled outside of Plumas County or

someone from outside the county traveled to Plumas County. 9 of the 32 positive cases are close

contacts to the 15 cases which were originally infected due to travel. Therefore, 25 of the 32 cases

appear to have been infected in relation to traveling.

If you must travel, here are some things to consider:

• Mode of transportation: Whenever possible, drive your own vehicle and avoid public

transportation such as airplanes and trains .

• Location: Determine if the location you are visiting is a “hot spot”. This is where there is

community transmission and a higher likelihood of transmission. You can go on-line for

information and the majority of counties/cities will have the number of positive cases. If possible,

do not go to “hot spots”.

• Activities: Recreate close to where you are staying, where there are minimal crowds and

preferably outdoors. Shop for needed supplies all at once instead of making multiple trips.

• Practice mitigating precautions: Always wear a face covering in public places, physical distance

six feet from others, and wash your hands frequently. Close contact with others for long periods of

time, even with a face covering, can increase your chances of getting COVID-19.

The toughest decision to make may be to stay home, especially if you feel unwell. If you have any of

the following symptoms call your doctor and stay home: cough, fever, shortness of breath, chills, sore

throat, muscle pain and loss of smell or taste. Making these tough decisions can slow the spread of

COVID-19 and save lives, possibly someone you love.

COVID-19 enCondado de Plumas:

Tomar Decisiones Difíciles

Prueba Masiva:
