As the only organization that defines, teaches and promotes best practices in design-build project delivery, DBIA is uniquely positioned to provide the best information representing the broad base needs and interests of our membership and the AEC industry!

Owners/utilities and practitioners new to design-build can rely on DBIA to better understand the delivery method and how to determine when design-build is right for a particular project. Those more experienced in the delivery method can take advantage of more advanced education offerings, including best practices and implementation techniques, case studies and education on design-build variations such as progressive design-build, design-build-operate (DBO) and others.

In addition, DBIA is excited to partner with the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the Water Design-Build Council (WDBC) to co-host the 2016 Design-Build for Water/Wastewater Conference April 20-22 in Charlotte, NC. We hope you will join us!

Why you should attend the 2016 Conferences in Charlotte: • IncreaseYourNetwork:Both the Design-Build in Transportation Conference and the Design-

Build for Water/Wastewater Conference have grown year after year to a 15% uptick in attendance and in the number of exhibitors. Consistent growth points to the importance of design-build and gives attendees greater reach within their personal and professional networks.

• ConnectwithClients:With over 10% of the attendees representing public agencies, both conferences boasted the highest number of client participants in 2015 and this trend is proving to continue in 2016.

• ExpandyourKnowledge: Over the course of the entire week, attendees are offered over 40 technical sessions and seven general sessions that range in experience level and cover topics such as P3s, progressive design-build, innovation and design-build best practices.

• CompleteyourCertification:Each Conference provides attendees an opportunity to earn over 12 CEUs to put toward your DBIA Certification or renewal. Credential-holders need 24 credit hours to successfully renew every two years. Why not complete half of your requirements in Charlotte?

DBIA, along with our partners, looks forward to seeing you in Charlotte this coming April 18-22 as we work collaboratively to enhance the understanding of design-build project delivery for our members, and to help all reap the full benefits of this delivery method when chosen.

Through this FHWA-funded research project, data has been collected from more than 275 projects by various State Departments of Transportation (DOTs). This session will give a summary of empirical results relating to performance of the various delivery methods (DB, CM/GC, DBB) and will include interpretation of the results from a highway agency’s perspective. The results will allow agencies to make empirically-based decisions about when to employ alternative delivery methods.

Today's owners have an increasing variety of procurement methods to choose from for their capital improvements. The type of project, complexity, dollar size, unknown conditions, owner resources and many other factors influence the critical decisions that must be made to ensure the best project is delivered. The owner-presenters will share their unique methods for procuring their work and how they quantified their reasons for selecting design-build. As they share why design-build was chosen, you will hear more about the challenges and their solutions, the expectations and results and the criteria they identified and analyzed to measure success.
