- Group discussion (10 members in each group) led by group leader (60 min) – Questionnaire driven cause and effect analysis (different aspects in each table, aimed at understanding the causes for each issue) – each group rotates (world café style) after 10 min

- Presentation by each group (30 min – 5 min each)

09.00 - 09.20 : Introduction to Breakthrough Capitalism by Amanda Feldman, Director - Volans (Short Plenary)

- What is the theory of change?

- Why we have to: • Pursue systemic rather than incremental change • Expand the scope of our work, from narrower to wider horizons • Dig deeper into our analysis • Raise ambitions and targets • Stretch time scales

- What are the three trajectories: • Breakdown • Change-as-Usual (CAU) • Breakthrough

09.20 - 09.40 : Building Futures: Scenario Exercise

- Teams re-group into Day 1 ‘Understanding the Issue’ groups (10 per group + 1 facilitator/leader)

- Each team will explore the WEF Risk Interconnection Map and key drivers around their issues areas.

- Sample prompt searches: • WATER - water supply crises/land and waterway use mismanagement • HEALTH - rising rates of chronic disease/vulnerability to pandemics • EDUCATION - massive digital misinformation/backlash against globalisation

09.40 - 09.50 : Open discussion led by moderators to set the scene for scenario-building (10 min)

09.50 - 10.20 : Scenario preparation in teams, led by group facilitator (20 min)

10.20 - 10.45 : 5 minute presentation by each group (25 min)

10.45 - 11.00 : Plenary discussion of key themes with all moderators (led by Amanda)
