Troy to find a new home for his people and settles in Rome.
o A virgin princess (Rea Silva) is impregnated by Mars (Roman god of war) and has two sons, Romulus and Remus.

1st Punic War:Rome wins and captures the islands of
Corsica, Sardinia, and Sicily…

2nd Punic War:Carthage is bitter and invades Italy.
A Carthaginian general named Hannibal
sneaks into Italy by crossing the Alps - (a crazy huge mountain
range) – with his entire army and 37 war
elephants.
Why elephants???

2nd Punic War:Because they’re terrifying, that’s why!
Hannibal is incredibly successful and hands Rome several massive losses.

2nd Punic War:Hannibal razes -
(completely destroys) - Roman towns for 16 years
before Rome decides to attack Carthage and he
is forced to retreat home to help.
The Roman Republic:________________________________________________________
3rd Punic War:
Rome invades Carthage with over 100,000 troops and totally destroys the
city… they even salted the earth so that nothing could
ever grow there again.
Okay, seriously? A THIRD one?

Slavery: (not everyone is a buddy…)Romans often enslaved captured soldiers or
anyone else they didn’t find useful.o 40% of all slaves were
captured soldiers (the rest were debtors or criminals)
o Romans feared slave uprisings
o Slaves took jobs from the commoners so the people were given food and other benefits (Ancient-style Welfare/ food stamps)
