SENIOR MANAGEMENT

CONTACTSThe CSI is a French state school with nine international sections. It is com-posed of a primary school or “école élémentaire” (6-11 years old) and a secondary school : “collège” (11-15) and ”lycée” (15-18). Over 2,000 stu-dents attend the CSI.The French «Head of School» is Mr. Serge Guinot (Principal or “Proviseur”), supported by the following :

SCHOOL OFFICEThere are two secondary school offices, one for Collège and one for Lycée, under the supervision of the education advisors (Conseillères Principales d’Education -aka C.P.E), and the education assistants (aka surveillants). These school employees provide educational and academic to the students and their families, assisting with all educational matters, including administration, absences and educational support. They also supervise and monitor students during free-time while the school is open, such as before and after classes, during recess, and study-time.

First point of contact for parents and students in both the Collège and Lycée

At the beginning of the school year, each student is given a correspondence book (“Carnet de Liaison”), which is used for communication between parents and teachers. Be certain to check it on a daily basis! Inside you will find school rules, notices of school outings or special projects, requests for parents par-ticipation, and other various useful information. As a parent, you will be expected to follow up with these notifications by signing any new messages. Meetings with teachers can also be arranged upon request through the Carnet de Liaison.

WHAT SHALL I DO IF MY CHILD IS ABSENT?

On the day your child returns to school, complete the absentee forms, which can be found within your child’s Carnet de Liaison..

Pronote/ENTIn Secondary there are intranet dashboards to follow the progress of your child’s education :- Pronote- ENT (“Espace Numérique de Travail”)

On Pronote, you’ll be able to check your child’s timetable, homework and school results. To log on, each parent is given a personal user ID and password at the beginning of the school year.

On the ENT, you can find lots of useful information about the school and correspond with the school and teachers via email.

COMMUNICATING with the CSI

MEDICAL CLINICTwo nurses in SecondaryOne nurse in Primary

The medical clinic is essentially a place for consultations on medical matters and wellbeing.The nurses will be happy to welcome both students and family on a confidential basis.Nurses will also administer first aid assistance if an accident occurs, and accommodate a sick child in their (generally) quiet quarters, complete with beds.

In French state schools, pupils do not wear a school uniform. However, they are expected to dress ap-propriately. The dress code rules are listed in the School Rules that you will be asked to sign. According to French Law, any obvious religious sign is forbidden at school. A specific outfit is required in PE class (see school supplies list, “fournitures scolaires”).

Students are expected to stay seated in the classroom and must request permission from their teacher if they need to leave the room for any reason.

Secondary : Collège and Lycée

School hours are scheduled according to personal timetables. Your child will be given his or her time-table on the first day of school. It can also be checked on Pronote.A school day is divided into “sequences” of 50 minutes each. The number of sequences (and therefore starting and finishing times) depends on the level of the student, and their timetable.

Students must be on time for class. If late, they must report to the school office before entering the classroom. School is compulsory and students are not permitted to leave the CSI during school hours (even in the event of a medical appointment).

Before and after school care is available, starting at 8h00 in the morning and after school until 17h45 in the evening. These options are restricted to children of parents who are employed. All other children are welcome into the classrooms starting at 8h45.

The school canteen is open on Wednesdays and Fridays (see enrollment form).

School hours in Primary

The week is split into 18 hours with the French teacher, and 6 hours with the language teacher. Students who don’t speak French or who need more French tutoring are welcome into FLS classes (French as a second language, “Français Langue Seconde”).

At the CSI most children have lunch at school. There are three self-service canteens in the school, serving good quality, va-lue for money, balanced meals for Primary, Collège and Lycée students.The meal is composed of four dishes: a starter, a main course, a dairy
