We welcome everyone including those who are single, mar-ried, divorced, crying newborns, tired parents, and doting grandparents. We welcome those who are “just browsing” and those who know every hymn and praise song ever written. We welcome those who think the earth is flat, can’t spell, or because grandma is in town—you wanted to go to

church. You have found a perfectly imperfect church filled with perfectly imperfect people who worship our perfect Lord. First time guests - please pickup a welcome gift at the welcome desk in the lobby. Once again, welcome!

Practice The Pause When in doubt , pause. When angry, pause. When stressed, pause. And, when you pause… Pray!

Please lift your neighbors in prayer…

With the New Year upon us, the number one New Year’s resolu-tion is to LOSE WEIGHT. How would you like to lose 100 pounds or more in 2018? It’s easy, and thousands of people do it every year? How? They DECLUTTER their homes by donating excess items.

Hebrews 12:1-2 states: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Je-sus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”

Professionals say that with collections of clothes, magazines, shoes, etc., that you need to put things in three (3) categories: 1) items to keep, 2) items to donate, and 3) items to trash. Also, if you haven’t used an item for at least a year – then you need to donate it. You can also give the items to family members – or sell it. Another option is to put the item on consignment to get some cash for it.

But what do people do with stuff that they don’t have room for but think they might need someday? They put it in palaces styled after castles and forts. It’s a new “shadowland”, a world of cin-derblock villas and plywood hallways under halogen security bulbs. This place that resembles Roman catacombs is more com-monly called “SELF-STORAGE”! Americans are putting more and more stuff into self-storage “purgatory”. It’s now a $22 billion industry, but what does it mean for the soul?

A 10’ by 15’ storage unit costs $75 at the low end – that’s $900 a year to store your stuff. Those numbers tell you it’s probably time to sell that out-dated, ten-year-old dining room set and couch and make money on that furniture – instead of spending money to keep it. Places like Goodwill and our church Thrift Store would be happy to take it off your hands.

So are you ready to lose a hundred pounds or more this year? Then it’s time to declutter, discard, and/or donate. Or better yet, “let us throw off everything that hinders…so that we can run with perseverance the race marked out for us!

Resolve to “be there” Let our New Year’s resolution be this: We will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest

sense of the word. —Goran Persson

Exciting news!! Sunday, March 11th has been des-ignated as God’s Food Pantry Sunday. During the beginning of the 10am morning Worship service, we will be celebrating and blessing God’s Food Pantry. A love offering will be collected. After the service, a lunch will be provided by God’s Food Pantry in the Fellowship Hall. The menu will be ham, scalloped potatoes, green bean casseroles, baked beans, din-ner rolls, cookies and drinks. If you would like to, you may bring a dessert. So mark your calendar, save the date, and plan to join us for a fun morning as we thank God for our many blessings.

God’s Food Pantry has been averaging almost 300 households a week. These households include many children and seniors. We have been blessed to have enough food to give out to everyone. Thank you to all who help God’s Food Pantry to be a vital ministry of Hudson First UMC.

EXERCISE WITH FRAN… Everyone knows that exercise is fun! It is energizing and healthy for your body and mind; but did you know that it is also great for our Food Pan-try? Not only did those who exercise with me on Monday's and Friday's do-nate a large amount of non-perishable food items but also $1, 050 in 2017!!! You helped feed many people in our community. Words cannot adequately express how grateful I am for your generosity. Once again thank you, thank you! —Fran Scerbo
