In response to the children’s interest in fairies, they are making a fairy door each, made from clay. The doors will be painted this week with and then taken to a local kiln to be fired. The doors will then be available to buy (as we would have done at our annual Christmas faire). I can assure you they will look amazing. Nativity I could not possibly do a year without the children performing in our special Nativity play. It is a real rite of passage and the most special moment for you as a family. Therefore, after much consideration, the children will perform the Nativity in What are we learning this week: We are reading the hugely popular story ‘The Gruffalo’ the children will of course be familiar with this book but we have planned some lovely activities around the characters in the story. For the past few weeks the children have been writing labels alongside pictures, this week I am introducing them to the concept of a caption or sentence. We will talk about groups of words forming a caption, with finger spacing between each word. When reading with your child you could pick this up too. The children will create artworks based upon the characters and story maps, re-telling the main events. We are also revisiting the concept of rhyming words. In maths we are continuing with the Phonics Phase 2 – This week we are revising all Phase 2 letter sounds and tricky words. I will be carrying out phonics assessments next week. News / InformationThe children began their special Christmas craft last week. In response to the children’s interest in fairies, they are making a fairy door each, made from clay. The doors will be painted this week with and then taken to a local kiln to be fired. The doors will then be available to buy (as we would have done at our annual Christmas faire). I can assure you they will look amazing.

NativityI could not possibly do a year without the children performing in our special Nativity play. It is a real rite of passage and the most special moment for you as a family. Therefore, after much consideration, the children will perform the Nativity in the school hall, on stage. As we cannot permit parents on site, Adrian (Lydia’s Dad) has kindly offered to film the performance. It will happen during the schools ‘Celebration week’ starting on 7th December. Most likely on

PhonicsPhase 2 – This week we are revising all

Phase 2 letter sounds and tricky words. I will be carrying out phonics assessments next week. Tricky words learnt: I, no, go, to, the, into. The children will practise counting up to and beyond 10, recognising numerals and matching to representations such as Numicon shapes.On Monday we are going into Mike’s Meadow to build homes for the animals that live in the woodland. On Friday we will pick this up again, learning about these animals – where they live, what they eat, are they nocturnal? In gym we are continuing to sequence movements, this week we will include a jump!
