Classroom Procedures
So….
What is a procedure?
Why are they important to have at school?
What is your responsibility in our classroom procedures?
Entering the Classroom
If we are NOT here, the door will be locked.
Your spot to line up is against the wall and wait patiently. There is to be no bouncing balls, no running around, or playing, etc.
Entering the Classroom
Put your jacket, shoes, etc. away NEATLY!
Put your agenda in the basket.
Move your attendance clip to READY TO LEARN and SANITIZE!
Get your indoor shoes on
Sharpen your pencils.
Start the work your work that will be on the tables or written on the board.
Washroom & Drinks
NEVER leave the room without teacher permission.
Your time to get a drink of water or use the washroom is before class starts, recess, or lunch.
You may bring a refillable water bottle to class.
Stay in your seat
You are not welcome to walk around the room whenever you would like.
If you need to get out of your seat – you need to raise your hand and ask permission.
Exception to the Rule--If you are sick, or have an emergency.
Pencil Sharpening
Each student should keep two sharpened pencils and a good eraser at their table at all times.
Pencils are to be put in the RED bin when they need to be sharpened and take a sharp one from the GREEN.
The person on Pencil Sharpening duty will sharpen the dull pencils.
Fire Drill
There will be many fire drills this year.
Exit left out of the class and down the stairs out onto the basketball court exit.
Line up facing your teacher quietly so we can make sure we are all out safely.
I will be the last out and shut off the lights and close the door.
Lockdown
There will be a practice Lockdown this year as well.
Whoever is in the class at the time needs to move below the windows and keep quiet.
I will take a quick look out in the hallway for students and bring them in.
I will shut off the lights and make sure the door is locked.
We wait for the “all clear” announcement from the office.
Classroom Volume
Watch for the cups!
GREEN
RED – NO TALKING!
YELLOW – whisper with your partner – not distracting to others at the table.
BLUE – group/table work – not distracting to others.
TransitionsLISTEN for the cues!
If we need you attention – you will hear this…

HomeworkHave your agenda signed.

Study your spelling words.

Check our class website:
creighton5-6-2014.wikispaces.com.
Unfinished Work
Each day, all your unfinished work should be taken home unless I tell you otherwise.
You may be sent to Homework Club if it’s not completed.
Students who do not complete their work may not be able to get to participate in PE, Art, or Recess until their work is completed.
Lining Up – during the day
Tidy up your area, check the floor, pencils in the bin.
Push in your chair QUIETLY and stand by it.
When you are called, come line up along the front of the room.
Last one out – turns out the lights.
Walking In the Halls
1. Walk in a single file line.
2. Quiet – remember other classes are working!
3. Keep hands and feet to yourselves
CONSEQUENCES!! If these rules can not be kept, then we will return and start over. That time starting over comes out of your time.
What if you are absent?
When you are absent, you are responsible for completing the work you missed.
The classroom absentee buddy will make sure they get extra copies of everything passed out and put it in a folder on your desk.
Finishing Work Early
If you happen to finish your work before others, DO NOT DISTURB THEM!
You may work on other work that needs to be completed.
Silently read a book of your choice
Feel free to do an Early Finishers Activity.
Classroom Community
Be courteous. Words of gratitude go a long way and they are an important part of working together.
When the intercom comes on, stop talking.
Encourage each other.
Help each other to follow the rules because then everybody wins.
Classroom CommunityIf I am not in the classroom, keep working as though I’m standing right next to you.
Everyone has their own crate. Leave other student’s belongings alone including what is on the teacher’s desk.
Teasing, making fun of others, and being mean will not be tolerated.
Look for help and be willing to always help others in need.
Classroom Community
Each class is known as something like the loud class or the mean class.
What do we want to be known as??
Caught You Jar
Write your name on the ticket you are given and put it in the jar.
You can write ones for others as well!
End of Day Procedures continued…
Make sure your desk is cleared off.
Clean up the floor around your desk and help your neighbour pick up theirs.
Raise your hand, I’ll call your name to put your chair up, pack up your backpack and line up along the front of the room and wait for the bell.
DO NOT RUN OUT THE DOORS SCREAMING!!!
And Finally…
Are you excited to be back at school?? Maybe not as excited as these parents!
