Lunches

• Your child will need a lunch every day!

• You may send a lunch box or buy a tray. Please send money for the week on Mondays.

• Write your child’s name and teacher’s name on the outside of the lunch box.

Snack Time

•We will go outside to play during our snack/ recess time. Please send only one snack and a drink.

•Send snack in a separate labeled brown bag or plastic baggie.

•Clip the edges of bags to help with opening.

•Kindergarten will only order from the snack bar on Friday, Special Snack Days!

ArrivalThe first day of school you may walk your child to our classroom. After the first day, your child needs to walk into the building on his/ her own.

Kindergarteners will be greeted by lots of teachers eager to help them to the gym area.

Please remember that school begins at 7:40. The students are marked late at 7:55.

Dismissal

• Please send your child home the first day of school the way they will go home all year!

• If your child is a bus rider, practice the bus number and first or second run.

• Car riders will listen for their name to be called.

• If your child is a van rider, practice the name of the daycare.

Classroom Rules

Follow directions the first time they are given.Raise your hand and wait for permission to

speak.Respect yourself, your friends, and your

school.Always do your best!

Field Trips

Kindergarten will order a Field Trip t-shirt. These shirts are for safety purposes. Each class will have their own color shirts.

Kindergarten will go on 5 field trips.We will go skating once a month.

Reading•Letter/ sound of the Week… your child will bring in a small toy that begins with the letter of the week.

•Vocabulary Words… vocabulary tests are given every other Friday.

•Journals-we will write in our journals daily. We begin writing with one word and drawing a picture. Yearly goal is two complete sentences.

•Weekly Homework–Study vocabulary–Letter/ sound of the week –Take Home Reader (this goes home on Tuesday)–Weekly Homework Packet (return on Friday)

• You will receive a monthly skills calendar in your child’s folder.

• Please refer to this for:– Vocabulary words– Reading letter– Math skills– Special Occasions– Holidays

Parties/ Celebrations

We will have a Christmas Party and an Easter Egg Hunt. All other holidays we will have a special treat.

Birthdays: Please have your birthday snack cleared through the nurse. We have several students with nut allergies. I can pass this out at snack time.
