Kindergarten Registration

We continue to accept Kindergarten Registrations for the

2018/2019 School Year. This will be for students enrolling in

school for the first time. Children born in the year 2014 are

eligible for Junior Kindergarten in September 2018. Upon

registering we will require a health card, immunization record, and

a birth or baptismal certificate.

If you know of anybody with children not currently at M.C.S.,

please encourage them to register in advance. We will be having an

open house for our new JK students and parents on Friday, May

18th.

Tim Horton’s Camp

The grade 7's enjoyed their second week at Tim Horton's camp.

Spring was really trying to get started though we still had toques, mitts and sometimes snow pants on. The focus this

week was on motivation, teamwork, responsibility and challenge. Each student received a necklace at the end of the week

with beads to represent the colour focus.

Hannah, Damon and Ethan played Gaga ball, camouflage, archery, stock market, name that tune, and planets. The students

worked hard at building positive relationships and working with others. Hannah enjoyed making new friends and all the great

food. Damon's favourite part was archery and the planet game. Ethan loved archery and was exhausted by bed time. The

students really appreciated the opportunity to meet students from other schools and wish they could go back again. Maybe

when there is no snow on the ground.

Fish Hatchery

The fish hatchery in the grade 6/7/8 classroom has been doing well and the fish are continually

growing. They are well over 2 and a half months old and are now eating. They are doing well and

there isn't many casualties and they very rarely are dying. They are fed once a day and will be

released in about two weeks. - Thomas Langford

The Big Crunch

On Thursday March 1st our whole

school gathered outside to have the

big crunch. Each student got one

apple and on the count of three we all

took a big bite. Dominic took one of

the biggest bites he got half the

apple! All the kids had smiles on their

faces and were giggling, laughing. One

even got the apple stuck but he was

ok. So, in conclusion I think this

year's big crunch was a success as

always. - Xavier Bolduc

Forest of Reading Vote 2018

Hello everyone, it's getting close to Forest of Reading voting time. I hope you and your students have enjoyed all the wonderful books that have been nominated this year. Just a little reminder that in order to qualify for the vote, the students would have had to read 5 books from the same category. For the Blue Spruce Books, students would have had to read (or be read to), all 10 nominated books. This year the vote will be held on Tuesday, April 17th (day 1) . The voting will take place in the library, classes will come to the library at their regular library time and there will be a voting station ready for them to go and cast their votes. The students are then welcome to browse and check out books as usual. We hope to see a lot of votes from Magnetawan Public School this year, so please keep reading these wonderful Forest of Reading Books. I will send out an email reminder the week before the vote. Thank You. Joe-Anne McMillan

Floor Hockey The Floor Hockey Tournament was a very interesting event for the grade

4’s and now we will tell you why. We got on the bus, we had to pick up the

LOL students. As we arrived, not all the schools were there so we had to

wait. When we got in our dressing room we were divided into teams of 8,

then the other schools arrived. There was Evergreen, LOL, Whitestone and

us. When we got out of our dressing room there were 8 nets on each side

so 8 teams could play. There was also snacks that we could buy for $2 or

less. We all met new friends. Neil’s team won first and Sofia’s team came in

second. Also Colby’s team won third. We all had lots of fun.
